Opinion: neighbor's garage is unsightly - should I ask them to paint it?

OP here - don't want to resurrect an old post but did want to update...

I never had the nerve to talk with the neighbor about their garage but was planning on asking them in the Fall if we could have it painted for them and we'd pay for it.

However today the neighbor poked through the hedges and introduced himself. He said he was going to be replacing the wood siding with vinyl siding this week and would we be okay if there was scaffolding up against the fence. He smiled and joked "Your visitors won't have to look at this ugly garage anymore from your lovely yard." I smiled broadly and tried hard not to show how happy I was - like I'd never noticed!

Ahh, I love a happy ending. I wish more OPs would post updates like this!
