Non citizens aren’t allowed to vote. |
Keep in mind that DC is run by two types of people currently, those that got here last Tuesday and still have Ohio plates on their car, but feel like they are qualified to run this city because they went to Georgetown and "Long Time Residents" who view the city as a jobs-program and cash-cow. Neither of these groups really understands how to run a city. Each group has their orthodoxies and they become more orthodox with each wave of "educated" newcomers. What a Republican does is offer the ability to act outside of those orthodoxies. Think of what Bukele did with El Salvador. All the "experts" and inteligista insisted up and down that you couldn't solve the gang problem, and twisted themselves in a pretzel to preserve a broken status quo. Then along came a guy who said "why don't we put gang members in jail?" Now El Salvador is one of the safest countries in the hemisphere. It didn't take nuance and expertise, it took doing simple and obvious things that everyone understands except "experts." That's what DC needs, someone to come in and ask "why don't we put violent criminals in jail?" That's something some random Republican can do that no one else in this city can do. |

Still seems like slowing people down for just 100 feet is better than not slowing them down at all? |

I'm absolutely blown away by your comment. Bukele is a criminal who routinely violates the human rights of Salvadorans by incarcerating them indefinitely without trial and you think that's what DC needs? You are a sick, sick person. "I'm scared of the District because it's full of poor black and brown people so we need Big Daddy GOP to wipe their asses with the Constitution and lock everyone up indefinitely before trial." You are an un-American lowlife pile of human excrement. |
It's not about "restoring law and order." That's just the tagline they try to sell to ignorant rubes. GQP policy has and will always be that they are protected by law, but not bound by it, while liberals and Democrats are whom the law binds, but does not protect. GQP policy is to allow suburbanites to do whatever the hell they want in the District and other urban areas: drive as fast as possible for as little price as possible with as little consequence if any for their dangerous driving behavior. Then after they defecate in the cities and the District, they drive as fast as possible home to their decrepit, segregated shltholes. This has been GOP/GQP policy since segregation and all the old suburban biddies who post here who are afraid of poor brown people are desperate for it to return here. |
You mean because you decided to live within a federal district? |
I'm a NP, but what evidence do you have that the GOP would deprive anyone of their due process rights under the Constitution? Your rhetoric is not helpful. What are your ideas for reducing crime and making the streets more pleasant and accessible to the taxpayers? |
That's what is suggested when someone says they need someone like Nayib Bukele to "clean up DC." You should probably read up on your GQP adored Latin American strongmen. |
Thank you for chiming in for the "we can never fix the problem and anyone that wants to fix the problem is bad" brigade. |
The people in Utah that keep getting their land grabbed by Feds in DC say: back at ya. |
DP. Because slow-down-then-speed-up is more likely to result in accidents than a relatively continuous faster-than-the-limit due to the uncertainty it introduces to surrounding drivers, pedestrians and bicyclists. The speed demon types are unlikely to have their behavior changed with cameras, happy to risk a fine for tinted plates, etc., that confound them. |
DP, but I was born here, and I don't see why I should need to move somewhere else to have voting representation. |
Few cars are booted or towed and outstanding tickets are not reported for collections. No lien, no ding to credit. |
