Have him watch some mens Olympics. Men’s volleyball is one of the most aplha sports out there. It’s tall guys that can jump and they just line up and smash the ball at each other for 5 sets.

Hard to call a sport with zero contact alpha

Are you 6’8” 230 with a 24” vertical?

That wasn't the case at all, dope. Mostly white kids and east Asian kids on these teams. Typically tall, athletic, and not interested in early-onset CTE.

How do you know the ethnic composition of the FCPS high school varsity volleyball teams?

Maybe that SHOULD be one of the main goals of school sports—revolutionary idea, I know.

In the 2022–2023 school year, 77,287 students participated in high school boys volleyball, which is a 16.24% increase from the previous year. This makes it the fastest growing team sport for high school boys in the United States, with a 22% growth rate over the past five years. In comparison, football has seen a 9% decrease in participation over the same period.

With a base number that low, it's hard to not be fast growing. For comparison, 7.8 million boys played high school football in the 22-23 school year.

Volleyball teams have 6-9 players. Football teams, 30-60. Volleyball is catching on for boys; HS football has been around since the 1880s.

7.8 million vs. 77k. If you want to serve more boys, add additional basketball teams - 500k play at the high school level, many more would if they didn't get cut

Who said the goal was serving more boys? And what does adding basketball teams have to do with the fact that boys volleyball is a growing sport?

Some boys prefer to play volleyball.

judging by the numbers, not many

Why the chip on your shoulder about volleyball? lol

Maybe you SHOULD NOT truncate my post in an effort to obfuscate the point.

Also, maybe, just maybe, the main goal of school sports should be to get as many kids as possible - boys and girls - into a sport that they enjoy and can excel in rather than shoveling everyone into basketball and football. Now that's a truly revolutionary idea.
