President Obama is reportedly close to Biden and speaks to him often. He would know if Biden was in decline to the point where he couldn't win. Why would President Obama be at a fundraiser a few weeks ago if this were the case? And now suddenly trying to take him down? No. I don't believe it. Clooney wouldn't have regular contact with Biden to that extent and may have genuinely been caught of guard about his mental decline thus the op-ed afterwards.

The Biden campaign believes that former President Barack Obama is working behind the scenes to oust President Joe Biden as the Democratic nominee, MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough said.

If things are so dire with his health, everyone would be calling on him to step down right now, TODAY. So this reads to me like it’s not an actual acute new health issue but that his regular old age things have made him appear unelectable. I don’t think he’s going to be able to stop the noise at this point, so what I think he should do is resign effective immediately and let Kamala run as the incumbent. Lots of Biden’s staunchest supporters voted for him understanding that Harris could become President at any moment. An open primary at the convention would come off as “insiders” deciding rather than voters. This is the only way I see forward at this point. Anything else is going to depress the base and still not get enough unicorn swing voters to matter, especially not down ballot.

I agree that it'd be the only, and the best, way, in normal circumstances, such as having a VP that people actually respect or at least like. With Harris sadly it's neither, and I doubt she could fix in 4 months what she has not done in 3 years and a half.

It would have to be Harris. Problem is the WH hid her for the past 3.5 years and now people don’t know much about her compared to Biden as Obama’s VP who was a lot more visible. Even Dick Cheney was more visible.

Who is she unpopular with? It’s not the base, certainly not younger voters or black voters. Swing voters?Probably, but according to polls, they’ve already been lost and no candidate other than Biden has ever polled strongly, even against Trump.

Mark Warner and whoever else think it should be them did not win the primary in 2020 and didn’t get picked as Veep. Neither did anyone else. They need to sit down and shut up. If they try to oust Biden and install their white male candidate of their choice it will be a blood bath all the way down ballot. And if they can’t get behind a black female or vote for her come Election Day, when the other choice is Donald Trump and Project 2025, then we’ll all know that the racist sexist call is coming from inside the house.
