watching my kid who gets the questions, but fails to finish them clean.

If we were to expunge the score, do we still need to finish the class?

Thanks, to the wise ones..

1. He can drop out now and expunge the grade and retake Geometry next year.

2. He can continue and pass the course and expunge the grade and still move on to Algebra 2 in 8th grade.

3. Not sure about arguing with the teacher. DS has a harsh grader in summer geomtry as well. He had a 102 in Algebra 1 but is hovering around 97-98 so far.

If your kid has a 102 in any class, the conclusion is that it’s not a real class, because 102 is not actually a real grade, just some BS modern feel-good grade inflation. Sorry.

I’m not the PP, but the student clearly did extra credit. Who cares?

We have summer PE and honestly, it's incredibly harsh too. There are no exceptions for any reason if something is late or a kid misses class, even if it was a documented connectivity issue.

Unclench, and accept the fact that, for the first time in your kid’s life, he or she is probably getting the grades he or she deserves.

Wow, you all are so angry at this person because their kid took geometry over the summer. Maybe you all need to do the "unclenching" that you speak of.

FCPS penalizing students who try to gain an advantage. It's their pushback.

That’s utter BS.

I have to say, some teachers are more lenient than others. We too had a power outage in our area and the teacher gave DS another chance.

Everyone told you summer PE was rigorous.

How do you document a ‘connectivity issue’? How many hours is PE?
Did one device fail? Did your home have a power outage? How did you document this? Why didn’t you go to Starbucks or another establishment with WiFi? How long is this class each day?

My son has 96% in the summer Geometry course 🤷‍♀️

In my child's offering, 102 would not be possible because EC was only given as catch-up for missing test questions. It is concerning.

It’s like private school. Teach your kid that being on time is actually late and all will be right with the world.

Isn’t this the “getting ready for the real world” and “preparing them for college” piece that people complain they aren’t usually getting?

Actually, this is the ONLY valid reason for offering extra credit. Anything over 100% is indicative of a BS class catering to Type A competitive parents who cannot accept that their special snowflakes aren’t actually perfect.
