When I was in grade school we had some distant relatives (my father’s cousin?) where the man got a new job as some kind of “executive” with a government agency so they moved from the small
Town where my dad and all his relatives grew up to our state capitol. But they went house hunting and the guys wife fell in love with one of those Hudson River mansions about fifty miles away from the guys job. He ended up enduring this hellacious commute in bad winter weather for many years and this major money pit home renovation. He died way too early of a major heart attack and for years my extended family blamed
The wife and the dream house and the commuting. So there’s that. But it really was a beautiful house.
