Is your office open on the 5th? In Argentina, they will give us a Bridge holiday so people can go travel and spend$$$$$$. I am not sure why don't do that in USA.
PRE-COVID 2019... I remember taking the Metro and it only a few people rode it that day.

I will be working.

I took off, but dear god, I need a break so bad, so it's worth it for me.

I'm tired of not having enough PTO---this country is so crappy about leave.

Yes. Working. Yes we’re open.

I work the 4th ( holiday pay, yay) but I’m off the 5th/6th/7th.

On a side note, please don’t call the Police about fireworks. Educate yourself about the difference between a gunshot and a firework. If you don’t know, google is your friend.

Even the 100% illegal fireworks - they don’t GAF. Which is why so many more people have them year after year. The law is pointless.

Get a fed job. They accrue lots of leave.

My GP. I was offered an appointment and was very surprised. She is a young woman and I feel bad about her working that day. She is good looking too (I am a straight female so I am not saying this in a creepy way). She should be having a day off with some nice guy, not seeing patients.

Thank you for everything you do!!! When you work on a holiday can you use it on a different day?

Thank you. No, but we get holiday pay differential. I am not working the 4th this year and then 5th is just a regular day!

Right.
And hugs to you if you’re one of us who had to use your own leave for maternity leave. Took many years to recoup that loss.

This is a bizarre comment. Why can’t a GP work that day? Who cares about her level of attractiveness?
