As one of the people on this thread that had to google PUFAs (and distinguish them from FUPAs), what I am here to say is that I was informed first by the AI and then by WebMD that PUFAs are good fats. Why are people extreme about this? |

I don't like seafood and won't eat it if it's served.
I understand that many of you will find that to be very rude. I have tried to eat fish and shellfish at various points in my life (I'm 43), but I don't like it and never have. If someone serves me fish at dinner, I will eat everything else on the plate and politely explain that I don't eat seafood. I live in a part of the country that has a lot of great seafood, and people almost always assume that you eat salmon. I don't, never have, and won't eat it at your house, no matter how much you hype up how not-fishy it is. |
Oh I am so with you there. And often the food isn't even that good. Like DC has a million pizza places and like 7 of them are decent and they all charge $30 a pie. Or you can't get a literal sandwich for less than $16 anyway but plenty of the are crap -- so you just have to know which of the $16 sandwiches are actually worth $16 and which are just you being swindled. Also even the really good places go downhill after a year or so because the head chef will step back a bit and they'll try to scale up and quality tanks. But prices never come back down. They aren't based on quality they are based on popularity. |
| I dislike food gatekeepers. Some people act like if you don't like specific foods you are horribly provincial even if you generally eat lots of different kinds of foods. Like I know a guy who loves Korean food and always serves kimchi at his house (he is not Korean). I always decline it because kimchi just isn't for me -- I like a lot of pickled stuff and I like kimchi as an ingredient in lots of things because the concentrated flavor can be great. But I don't like it on it's own -- I get lots of people do and that it's served as a side dish on it's own in Korea but it's not for me. But every time I eat a meal with this guy (husband of a good family friend) he makes a huge deal out of the fact that I don't eat it like I'm super basic because there's this one food I don't eat. And on multiple occasions he's said things to me like "I mean pretty much all Korean people love kimchi but I guess you know better..." and I'm like I don't "know better" but I didn't grow up eating it and it's just never been my thing. Let it go. But because he's made his fondness for kimchi his entire personality he takes my dislike of it as a personal affront and will not stop bringing it up. |
Good question. It’s not hard and fast rule but more an emotional one. If I feel a particular dish is a bastardization of authentic cuisine I’ll pass. eg, since you can find California rolls in Japan it’s acceptable to me. But bbq chicken pizza is an invention of some socal pizza chain trying to be cute, so I won’t touch it. |
| I’m annoyed by almost all food and all strong food preferences at this point. I was way into cooking and food and “foodie” culture in my 20s, and now in my 40s, I’d be happy to eat nothing but cereal for the rest of my life. Over it all. |
Agreed. All the white tablecloth restaurants downtown only serve the purpose of being spots for lobbyists to impress. And just about every area, whether it’s downtown Gaithersburg, navy yard, shirlington, Reston station, south waterfront or friendship heights, has the same slew of restraints owned by the same restaurant groups. Take your pick between matchbox, guapos, uncle Julio’s, founding farmers, Ted’s bulletin, Carlyle/coastal flats/mikes America, etc. it’s all so generic. |
Can you provide a list of authentic pizzas toppings? |
This is an extremely stupid take. I hope you’ve said it to people you know in real life. |
I do- every time I see someone eating a bbq chicken pizza! |
| Mayo salads: with pasta, potato, egg salads being the worst. |
Agree! Also dislike fruit in green salads |

| I am vegan, so no animal products, and I prefer to eat unprocessed foods. I avoid anything with coconut or palm oil. I avoid food with a lot of added sugars. |
OP asked for unbearable food things and PP provided it. |
