Drivers/passengers actively using drugs. Weed, shrooms, etc.

Wait - how do you know they were shrooms?

The constant bs and exaggeration is half the problem.

It was a mixed thing. Not straight weed. I know what straight weed is like, bro.

You had a panic attack, self induced. You didn't get a contact high from the car in front of you.

No, wise guy. It was the opposite of a panic attack.

Driving high is so much more dangerous than driving after a beer.

According to who? Obviously some people like alcohol more than cannabis but alcohol is far more intoxicating to the point of death. Just facts.

Alcohol is not cannabis. Not comparable.

A big part of the reason why I wanted to move to the US is because we used to enforce our driving under the influence laws. As a teenager growing up in a country where these laws did not even exist, I went to many funerals for kids who died in completely avoidable traffic accidents. In my high school of 300 kids, we buried at least five teenagers during my high school years. I cannot fully describe how these events marked our young lives. And I cannot even pretend to understand how these drunk driving deaths must have destroyed the parents and other relatives of the kids who died.

Drivers smoking weed--and, thus, driving impaired--have become too numerous and frequent in DC for me to even notice them anymore. But a few weeks ago I encountered--for the first time since I arrived in this country more than decades ago--a person driving while drinking a beer. He did not even try to conceal the beer as he drank from it. It was on M Street SW at around 3 p.m. He had zero concern the cops would pull him over.

Thank you Charles Allen and Brianne Nadeau and Phil Mendelhson and Brian Schwalb. Thank you. You have made this city safer for criminals in so many ways.

It’s being mixed with chemicals from Red China. That adds to its odor and toxicity.

I hate the smell of cars and trucks so now we’re even. What makes you think that we should ban things just because you don’t like a smell? Do chicken farms on the eastern shore count? Mulch? Perfume that I don’t like?

If perfumed chickens were driving cars and trucks around the Eastern Shore then, yes, that would be problematic also.

So now we're arguing whether it's better to be driving on LSD vs. driving on PCP?

The only correct answer is that *no one* should be driving when they are high or drunk.

There is no safe amount of alcohol that someone can drive under. However lots of people drive better after using marijuana. Just facts.

^^ so we’re supposed to believe facts coming from a stoner?

People should not drive high. People should also not drive while tired, distracted, angry, etc.

Fact is, some people are not that bad at driving high. Some people are very bad at it.

An aside here--I was walking with my DD on M street yesterday, behind a duo emitting the biggest cloud of pot smoke. They must be very proud of themselves, hogging the sidewalk and stinking up Gtown on their Sunday afternoon stroll. We had to pull over (on foot) into a store to escape. It's awful. I have spoken to the police at community meetings about walking while using--the law as written does not allow public consumption-- and the police rep said the tickets are laughable to the pot smokers (I think they are $20 and there is zero penalty if you don't pay them) and so the police don't bother writing them up. I also think they lack some kind of kit they could be issues to carry on them (like the pot version of a breathalyzer) should they even be motivated to intervene. It could theoretically be tricky to 'catch' someone driving or walking while using, but some people are just putting it out there so egregiously that they are easy to identify. There is no mechanism though. I've asked. Thanks progressives!

Reefer Madness 2024

Cannabis in MD is lab tested and certified. Nothing from China. You must not have any good arguments if you hve to resort to making up lies.

More hyperbole lol. Nobody said anything about LSD or PCP. Well informed people know that all drugs are not the same. Caffeine is a stimulant so are you impaired while driving after your morning starbucks? Alcohol is far more intoxicating than cannabis. Just a fact.

Using pejoratives that makes you feel superior will not magically make you am expert on something you have no experience with. I think a person who consumes cannabis would know more about the effects than a puritan teetotaler.

Simple data should settle this debate
once and for all. Since MD legalization have road deaths gone up significantly? What about DC? Very simple.
