I drive on 495 and 270 in MD almost every day and I observe active users driving or as passengers in cars in traffic at least weekly. I just had to pull over to compose myself after getting stuck behind one of these cars in traffic. The odor was so overwhelming that I could feel the effects without opening my windows.
Is this legal? Why? If not, why do these people get away with it? |
| Users? |
Drivers/passengers actively using drugs. Weed, shrooms, etc. |
| Obviously it’s not legal to be on shrooms while driving. Is this a real question? |
| Get over it. |
You got secondhand high from someone using shrooms in the car in front of you. mmmkkkaayyy Of course, it's not ok to smoke weed while driving, but your hysteria is over the top. |
|
It's just as illegal as drinking while driving.
The solution, the only solution, is traffic enforcement by human beings. Everything comes back to the ill-fated decision to stop basic traffic enforcement by the MPD. |
Yes it’s real. We’ve obviously legalized a lot since so many people are publicly using. I’m not an attorney so I don’t know. |
Wait - how do you know they were shrooms? The constant bs and exaggeration is half the problem. |
Yes, I did. Have you ever smoked weed? Hysterical is not how I would describe it. |
It was a mixed thing. Not straight weed. I know what straight weed is like, bro. |
In Maryland it is now illegal for police to use the odor of marijuana coming from a car in traffic as a basis for imitating a traffic stop. This will probably be coming soon to DC as well. |
No you didn’t. Not scientifically possible. 100% hysterical. |
Why would you need odor to be a pretext? If the driver is impaired then you can see that clearly from their actual driving patterns. You can 100% be pulled over and checked for sobriety if there is reasonable suspicion of impairment. You guys are fear mongering. |
| I hate the constant smell on the road, too. We finally banned smoking cigarettes and now have to deal with this smell. Can’t keep my windows open at home or in my car because of it. |
