Is anyone NOT on Ozempic or similar drugs?

Anonymous
A note to those who criticize the use of these drugs as laziness and undisciplined:

To many of us on them these are miracle drugs solving previously untreatable metabolic and insulin related medical conditions, and find it life changing and amazing to finally be "normal" like others.

When it comes to your opinions, and the fact that you are uninformed or uneducated, frankly, we don't give a flying fark. Nor do we understand your motivation or why you care.

Just so you know, we are not saying "f-off!" we are saying "go right ahead, we don't care, we are happy as hell".

Got it?

There's a huge difference between being disciplined (i.e., restricting calories, eating healthy foods, etc) and just not being hungry. For many people, dieting means deprivation, not discipline. Feeling hungry all the time is a miserable feeling. On these drugs, people aren't hungry. You sound bitter. You probably have been starving yourself for 20 years and are constantly miserable and feel like the people on these drugs are cheating because they are now skinny like you, but not starving. Oh well....deal with it.

I am a new poster. I know this is hard for you to understand, but it is possible to eat a healthy diet, feel satisfied, and be relatively slender. I've been a size 2/4 my entire adult life, and I get hungry of course when it is around mealtime but I am not sitting around all the time feeling hungry and deprived. Pointing out that eating less will make you lose weight is hardly a display of bitterness.

Good for you! Genetically you are similar to most average people. However, I'm sure you know that not everyone is the same right? I mean, some people have different eyes, skin colors, and genetic issues around hunger.

Scientists have been publishing research for years about how eating less (calories in/calroies out) does not work for everyone. The fact that you are a size 2/4. If you need kudos for your pant size (and by mentioning it - we assume you do) Good for you!

DP. You are not unique, though; why do you think you are something out of the ordinary? If I can solve a puzzle, I presume that most people can solve the same puzzle. If I can walk half an hour, I presume most healthy persons can walk half an hour.

The nonsense that eating fewer calories does not work for everyone is a myth sold to people looking for a miracle that does not exist. Eating a lot and being slim. Your whole post is about not trying hard and harder.
So, I suppose you could be right; you have a lazy gene and hence overeat, but you are also a narc who must never be responsible for anything. Hence, it is not your fault you are overweight or whatever else is not right in your life. Otherwise.... how can you blame others and invent conditions for your weight? You can't, so you might, (horror to your pathetic life self-esteem!) have to confront the fact that YOU are at fault. Narcs are never at fault for anything, ever.

You are a part of the narcissist pandemic; the rest of us are abused and used by you and those like you who have been constant victims of everything and everyone. If you were able to self-reflect, of course, you are not able to do so, you would say to that pp, hey, yes, you do have something to be proud of; you figured this out, and I can't figure it out.
Instead, you go with the lowest common denominator, insult. Go, narcs!

Does the drug make other changes, like to the metabolism or energy? Or does it strictly change appetite? I really haven't read much about it and don't know anyone taking it. And was it really a discipline problem if they were truly hungry (not just snacking for fun?) I think it's probably more complex than you're making it sound.

Yes! I'm PP that you are responding to-- I want to know that too? I do think it's more complex. I laid it out in b&w to make a point (my fave person is obese and is utterly honest that she just likes to eat and she likes sugar). But I do think/hope it has metabolic impact as well. Hoping to get more info (and not insults! aren't there enough around this topic?)

Me too, I'm super interested in this as well. Do these meds also change your metabolism by supressing appetite artificially? GLP-1 is a hormone right?
Especially concerned because you have to take these for life.

Shouldn't this make you less concerned? Since you're not taking something that permanently changes the way you are?

Not on Ozempic. I spent a weekend catching up with a friend on Ozempic. She barely eat anything even when she was hungry and there is something just not right about that. I actually eat a lot, it’s just healthy food.

I am 48 as well. I have lost 40 pounds in the last year and a half and I am sure people think I am on it. The weight loss has basically stopped though and I still have 40 more to lose, so maybe they don't think that. Who knows. It used to bother me but I am over it. Ozempic is what inspired me. I had asked DH about going on it by using one of those online places and he was like, no way, go to your doctor or don't go on it. I was scared to go to the doctor. So I decided, I am going to try this one more time on my own and if it doesn't work, to the doctor I go. And it at least partially worked. I have realized at my age, I just need to eat a low carb diet for the rest of my life. I am sure I am prediabetic. And I am sure I could get an rx based on that and my weight, but so far, I am proud of the work I have done (does not mean I at all look down on people who use it.)

Nah. Actually this drug is proving that chemicals in the brain indicate that food cravings are centered in the brain. This drug is showing remarkable success in treating alcoholism and improves heart health. Obesity is not a character flaw nor is other addiction.

Do you...not see how my size was relevant to the point I was trying to make?

I am like you as well. I eat healthy meals and do not snack or feel hungry between meals. I consider myself healthy. However I am a size 8/10. The only way for me to be a size 2/4 like you would be to actively starve myself.
And there are people that have the same eating habits as us and are larger. I have a friend who is size 14/16 and is a very healthy eater. I know this because we've gone on girls trips together and I've seen how see eats the same diet as me. Yet you would likely call her fat.

And then there are people like my sister. Who eat healthy meals and yet is still hungry between them. Food is on her mind for a good portion of the day and she actively has to will herself not to eat. You and me, we can forget about food until our next meal, but not everyone had that same metabolism.
