Is anyone NOT on Ozempic or similar drugs?

I know one person on it. Most people I know have been fit for as long as I’ve known them.

I'm not sure I would know. We don't talk about it. I am on semaglutide myself but nobody knows. I have lost 20lbs and 5 years from my face due to debloating since January. It's been amazing feeling normal again.

I have 4 friends groups, work friends, and smattering of other friends.

In 1 of my friends group 2 are, neither will say they are. One said she lost weight skiing all winter... lol.

At work, nobody.
My other 3 friends groups 0 people.

In each group of ~10 people I would say 1 person really needs to get it, 3 could use it, so I suspect over the next 5 years more will and I'm all for it because I don't want my friends dying young.

I am. But my BMI is 34 and my doctor all but insisted at my recent physical when I became pre-diabetic. It wasn’t my idea. My weight is due to medication that causes weight gain/obesity.

I don’t know of anyone else I know being on them. OP you must know an awful lot of people who bore people to death discussing their medications?

no, some are for sure, but many are either slightly overweight or at the top of their normal weight range.

I don’t buy it. I call troll.

46 and not on it - about 15-20 pounds overweight.

I know about three people that should be on it, but only one is.

I live in Falls Church and know three people for sure and suspect a couple of others. I’d actually love to use it but am worried about long-terim effects (and am positive my insurance doesn’t cover it). I’m at the top of the overweight BMI range and have found losing weight during perimenopause to be extremely difficult.

I know 3 people on it. I was slightly overweight but lost 20 lbs over the past year through diet changes and 2-hrs of daily workouts and suspect people think I’m on it. I am not.

I am not on it but should be. I have gained a lot of weight via anti-anxiety meds.
I said something to someone recently (vaguely, like you did) and I was surprised they asked me what meds I was on.
That said, I am going to ask you as this is anonymous because I might prefer giving your answer instead of the real one!

(not to get confused with the ones who are like I just like food!) talking about the denialists here.

Does the drug make other changes, like to the metabolism or energy? Or does it strictly change appetite? I really haven't read much about it and don't know anyone taking it. And was it really a discipline problem if they were truly hungry (not just snacking for fun?) I think it's probably more complex than you're making it sound.

Yes! I'm PP that you are responding to-- I want to know that too? I do think it's more complex. I laid it out in b&w to make a point (my fave person is obese and is utterly honest that she just likes to eat and she likes sugar). But I do think/hope it has metabolic impact as well. Hoping to get more info (and not insults! aren't there enough around this topic?)

+1
If you're on a med that causes weight gain, docs just layer on more meds. It's getting scary.
Is there an alternative to that first med--I think we all want to know.
Sometimes doctors just don't know or take the easy way out.

Most people are NOT on these drugs. Because they're expensive!

It really shows how entitled and privileged this forum is that they would more readily believe people lie than believe people are ready to spend money on this. Sure, a minority of people are, and indeed that minority is well represented in the wealthy circle of DCUM. But don't make the assumption right from the start that someone you know can afford the medication.

I have lost 30lbs since January and I am not on it.

I actually have a prescription that I haven't filled. I spent two days trying to track down availability and then gave up. I decided to do what I could unmedicated. I have hit a plateau though and still have 20lbs to go. I'm considering filling the script, but would like to avoid if possible. It isn't that I have anything against the medication, I just generally want to avoid being on any long term medication if I can....

I am not, but I will ever be on it. For vanity purposes, I would like to lose 5-7 pounds, but come on, that is insane to drug myself to lose a few pounds.
At my heaviest, I am 125 lbs, 5'4'. 120lbs today. My face looks plump at 53, I have no desire to age myself and ruin my kidneys with drugs I don't need.

Me too, I'm super interested in this as well. Do these meds also change your metabolism by supressing appetite artificially? GLP-1 is a hormone right?
Especially concerned because you have to take these for life.
