So if someone threatens you with a gun but doesn’t pull it, you’re supposed to assume that he doesn’t have one? That seems like a really bad idea.

I don’t own a gun. I’m not sure what your point is. If someone says they have a gun, the prudent thing to do is believe them.
Why believe a criminal? What makes them credible?
If someone HAS a gun, they don’t need to imply anything- they just pull it out.
The only people making threats to pull out a gun are the people who don’t have one and are bluffing.
