| All the Bethesda teams are good except the 09 ECNL. |
Multiple Injuries from last season and even more this season, turnovers from coaches and players …. It’s a rebuilding year. Guess we’ll see. |
When did this team have a 20 national ranking? They’ve been weak for a while. |
Bethesda 09 has been rebuilding since spring of u13 then. |
Maryland United is in PG County. Good try though! |
| Did the 09 team lose players a few years ago. Why did they leave? How many players are actually from PG? No Cap! |
You should check out VDA. |
It takes a long time to build an ECNL program, you need years oh a highly successful travel program first to apply to be an ECNL club I believe. But, MD United could expand to capture this market as well. |
| MDU needs to know their product better to be able to market to savvy DMV parents. BSC coaches shamless steal MDU players reguarly |
Just to clear things up. Stealing is a stretch. Nobody is forcing any players to join Bethesda, Union, MDU or Arlington. Nearly every ECNL/GA team recruits. We experience the same thing at our club. Players come, players go. Players go because they find the pasture greener somewhere else. Same reasons players come. Sometimes the pasture isn't greener. Take these Bethesda 09s as an example. Any ECNL/GA/EDP1 family who isn't happy with their playing time or club could walk right on to the team and probably start or at least work their way into a starting position. A situation like this is something families should consider. EP was the 2009 coach last year but had help from others including FG. The 09 group benefit from the ECNL trapped player rule last year. In fact two 2009s still play up on the 2008 team. I personally know FG and he is an excellent coach and person. I speak with him fairly often. He probably understands the game better than any coach in the area. He was brought up through Arsenal Academy, German Academies and played professionally for many years. FG will certainly yell but it is not abusive. That is 100% bollocks. I've spoken with him about this 2009 team as well and he truly wants them to succeed but the injuries and small roster have made it tough on him. When I last spoke to him, he seemed to believe things could be starting to turn around but still a work in progress. I don't like to see FG get a bad rap or be grouped into the other Bethesda Coaches. Not fair to that man. Just like players leaving, in my experience, their are always going to be at least two families who are unhappy on every team. My advice to them would be find a better fit for your DD instead of staying where you are and trying to drag a coach's name through the mud. There are certainly many other clubs around the Beltway. Nobody is forcing you to stay with a coach you are not happy with and nor should you. |
This is very well said. And re FG, 100% true compared to someone like SC. Everyone who actually knows BSC and the ECNL coaches knows this is and to say otherwise is nonsense. Heck, even the parents who like SC and think he’s good for their DD would acknowledge this in terms of the style and that some of the things SC says to and about the girls would never come out of FGs mouth. |
| MDU is not really a beltway club. This club primarily serves the Baltimore MSA. Some of our BSC parents are cry babies and can't have their DD yelled at. Although the 09 team is the weakest of all Bethesda teams dropping from high to low in the ranks. Can't be the coaching as long as my DD gets to play. |
This is silly. MDU has players from all of the counties that surround the club. There are players from Montgomery County, southern MD, and the eastern shore as well. My daughter left BSC (as have many others), and is back to enjoying the game. |
What teams are you referring to? Several of the current MDU ‘06-‘08 players left BSC for a positive culture and healthier environment. And they win games! |
The ‘07 ECNL team is struggling, as they did last year. |
