| Just after DD applied ED1 (and then ED2), we (the parents) regretted it -- but only because either school would have been $80k/year, which we can afford, but not easily. DD did not get into either school. We were sad for her, but relieved about not having to pay that bill! |

Ed doesn't give merit scholarship, which is a drawback.
Other students with similar stats as my child got it, also accepted as honor program, which is kind of regret for us. My next kid, we will shoot high, and do EA for certain schools. |
My DD attended a DC private school and applied to Richmond a few years ago. It came up with a few girls that my Dd was applying to Richmond and a girl said, “Gross! I will not apply to any school in a state that was a part of the Confederacy.” The girl ended up at St. Andrews, so I guess she stuck to her principles. |
Ha. We are actually wondering if my kid should have applied there because he’s had zero rejections so far- in at 6 (some with as low as 5% acceptance rates)- but still wouldn’t want the hassle of west coast. |
Untrue. Depends on the school. My kid (I don't pay close attention to rankings but believe the school is T40ish) got the top merit offer, $25K, as part of their ED acceptance for this fall. Research the schools where you're considering ED. |
Same. Mine got $30K a year from his top-50 ED school. |
