+1 If the objective is med school, in terms of strategy JHU is not the best school to attend. Better to attend one tier down and be at the top of your class than somewhere in the middle at JHU.

Yeah, my DC took Hopkins off his list. Due to this kind of strategic consideration and because Hopkins pre-med has a very bad rep for ultra-competitive vibe.

HAHA Especially in biomedical - top in the nation for 25 years.

White DD got in 3.9GPA, 30 ACT. Took the tour last week. I think we were the only white people on campus. She is still going. JHU can make your future.

Congrats to your DD. Surprisingly low test score, I must say. What major?

White. And a 30 ACT which is lower than usual. People still act like that is impossible but it is not. It is actually normal. Uncommon but normal.

My URM son got rejected. His stats are 1580 SAT, 4.8 weighted GPA, 12 APs with 5s on all exams, leadership roles in 3 honor societies, independent research, and tons of community service.

I am a JHU alum and my kid did not apply ED 1 or ED2. So, I think that is why he was rejected. Hopkins like prospective students who apply ED and they have become anti-legacy. So, we were expecting a rejection.

My kid is okay though and not the least bit upset. Hopkins was his first rejection. He has already been admitted into UMD Honors, UMBC, Carnegie Mellon, Georgia Tech, Penn State, UT Austin, and University of Michigan. He is still waiting on Rice, Northwestern, and Ivies.

Congratulations to all the students who have been admitted! I wish you the best of luck at Hopkins because it is a great school.

Everyone is very polite right now, refraining from calling the 30 ACT troll a troll.

So to clarify, she submitted the score, or did she apply test optional?

Hopkins actually has been taking a good number of kids test optional.

I have kids at a Baltimore private and know a fair amount of local kids who attend. I would say those kids pretty evenly split between white and Asian.
