No surprise I think I remember seeing that Emory has the second highest percentage of private school students after Nortre Dame. |
Middle class is supposed to stay middle class. If they become upper middle class trying to be entry level wealthy, private colleges put them back in middle class with high cost. If they don't go for full pay, their kids can't attend ivies, if they pay ivies, they can't retire in peace. |
Pretty accurate. |
Is this Satire? |
Private colleges are businesses with privileges to receive donations, grants and tax exemptions. |
They don't have to. The rich students already pay for the less rich students. But in this area, the parents in the $1m+ houses want everything for free. |
Yes, that is the reality. And...........it's not like you're not playing the game. Isn't this why we have a spate of 18-year-olds majoring in CS? |
They are private taxing authorities charging 5-10% of family wealth but only for donut hole families, not for anyone else. |
So sacrifice kids at the alter, instead of letting them study what they enjoy and are good at? |
What? Why? |
DP here. Most CS students I know are CS because their parents picked their major (and school). Regarding middle class - so it is okay for them to get financial aid and attend private high schools, but it is not okay for them to get financial aid at colleges? Not following. |
I didn't invent the game sweetie. You either choose to play or you don't. There are consequences either way. |
I think it shows wealthy people already have it all, so this "prestige" is the only other type of brass ring they need to collect. It also shows that the actual education is not the aim, nor is is any better than at other schools (because richer =/= smarter). |
Kids are majoring in CS because its what they grew up with, because they love it, because the future will be more and more computerized, because that's where jobs are. |
All Catholic high schools are private schools, so the ND private school crowd is a bit different and doesn't always = wealth. |
