I am a math teacher, and no one in APS has ever been able to tell me (I have asked, several times) what this adds of value, or what it gives us that the Virginia Growth Assessment does not. Look for the detailed standard/question report on the VGA instead — it has another name that I forget right now.

I wonder how much we spend on the MAP.

For kids who do really well on the growth assessment it provides more info for what they know, as the growth assessment caps out at that grade's material.

No it doesn’t. The midyear growth assessment includes things they haven’t learned yet this year, and into the next school year, depending on the questions the kid has already answered.

That doesn't sound right. Sure, the mid year growth assessment covers the rest of the year. But the spring and fall tests are intended to cover the prior year's grade level content. That's why scores drop for the winter assessment, when they add the next year's content. MAP is a continuous scale that tracks what math kids know, even if it's stuff that's several grade levels ahead (e.g., a 3rd grader working on pre algebra).

Anyone else know what this is called? Our kid did fine on NWEA but bombed this(?) Kid has struggled with math in past. I’d like to ask for more info but it’d be helpful to know what I am asking for.

Found it… That’s the Student Detail by Question (SDBQ) report. You should be able to see it in parent vue I would think…

DP. Does anyone know the answer to this question? I'm in a similar spot and wondering how to address this at the next PTC.

From what I understand the RIT score is supposed to be an overall measure that is comparable year to year. If it didn't change your kid answered about the same number of questions of the same difficulty, so no, they probably didn't learn much. If you look at the math standards for 1st grade, that makes sense. They are incredibly basic.

Under the header "How does APS communicate with families/caregivers about DIBELS?

"After students have taken DIBELS, schools communicate the results via the Parent Report and an accompanying Parent Report Letter. The Parent Report, generated by DIBELS, provides specific information related to student performance. It includes students’ scores on each of the DIBELS measures administered at the student’s grade level, a brief explanation of the scores, and an indication of risk related to reading proficiency."

I have been in APS for ten years and have never gotten this. They are paying for this? That is infuriating.

I have always gotten it at P-T conferences. It's not posted to Parentvue for some reason.

I know parents can find VGA reports in ParentVue. The Dibels results aren't there too?
