I don't helicopter parent, but I am involved and support my kids. Unlike some parents who rather stare at their iPhone than watch their kids play their sport, etc. Or, never help with team sports. The fact that some of you get this upset is more of a reflection of you in the mirror. If you think there is nothing wrong with what you're doing you wouldn't be posting so angry. Please. Get off YOUR HIGH HORSE and maybe particulate in your kid's life instead of just dropping them off and never being part of their youth. You don't have to be there all the time, but those parents (like you) who act as if the parents who volunteer to help teams out are "over parenting" is a joke. You should be thanking them on your knees because without the volunteer parents your kid wouldn't have any sport to play as youth. It is what it is. |
I take my kid to every training session. Watch every single game. Gladly travel to plenty of out of town tournaments. We have fun together. We talk in the car rides and have fun in hotels and sightseeing. Overall it's a great experience. I also don't volunteer to organize any of it and I would gladly pay more money so nobody else needs to volunteer either. |
Thank you for describing our current pay to play model. Are you willing to also cover the cost of the less fortunate families who will get stuck with the extra financial burden you’re so willing to place on them? Do you know or think about any of these soccer families? Probably not because they’re most likely already priced out of your team. |
| test? |
If you want to pay that much, Revolution will be happy to oblige you! LOL |
It is what it is. So profound. And you are what you are. A helicopter parent living their dreams out through their child’s youth soccer career. Look in the mirror as you’ve been advising others to do. You will see a loser. |
Agree. Team mgr here of high maintenance parents. Shame on those of you who never volunteer; who never offer to help with anything; who can’t even offer to handle the canopy; or at least offer to offer. It’s disgusting. Yes, we all talk about you, that parent that does zero. Ew. You just sit there in your chair with the random cackle laugh no one wants to hear. Ew. |
“I don’t know anything about your situation, but I’m certain it’s the result of laziness, selfish folly, and bad parenting. I have been uniquely appointed to judge you.” |
Travel sports are a luxury. I'm not willing to pay more for others to play any more than I'm willing to pay more to stay at a resort so that others can stay |
Sweetheart, I earn $400k a year. Live in a 6000sqft house. My kids are great athletes and do very well in school. I played sports through college and at my old age I still run 5-6 10k races a year. I don't need to live any dream through my kids. What I do is help and support them. It takes maybe 30-45 minutes A WEEK to be a team manager. Yet, you are the one who is posting that your kid playing soccer is the same as taking them to Disney. Parents like you who think money covers parenting are the issue. Don't want to schedule your kids for 2-3 days of practice? Fine just skip it. Don't want to help a team out with 30 minutes a week of volunteer work? Fine, but don't cry over it. See, the difference is you're crying over it. I'm not. |

It's ironic the few parents who feel guilty enough to keep posting hate posts about how it's fine to not support their kids in travel soccer.
Seriously, it's laughable. See a therapist. If you don't want to support them and more a little more involved than an Uber driver that is fine. But, don't go after parents who are more involved because without them your kids wouldn't have a soccer team to play in. |
Are you serious? Is that how much they're charging for their GA teams now?!? |
Seriously, VRSC travel parent here and we do not pay anywhere near $5,000 a season! Never have. |
Then you haven't gotten a VRSC GA offer. $4500+. |
Nope and didn't realize you were only referring to GA, the comment made it sound like any team in general. Funny how everyone on here is just about girls soccer. |
