Try 60’s! I suggest you travel now. When you get older, everything is hard and somewhat daunting/scary. Don’t put the fun off until you retire because you won’t enjoy then what you enjoy now. (And you may have money but no one to travel with). Do it now! |
I felt great at 45. It started getting tough at 50 - perimenopause and Hashimotos kicked in. I’m now on HRT and on medication for the Hashimotos so feeling better and not so exhausted.
Emotionally, I am feeling a bit more sad about things as life transitions. DD is off at college and my mom is getting near 80. DS is still at home so I am cherishing that time with him. |
Op - they are 8 and 10 |
Op - I don’t have a thyroid any more. Maybe that’s why I feel like such sh*t |
Yes, I became an old lady in my 40s. Welcome to the club!
Just wait until you hit 50. |
what happens then? |
It hit me at 46.5.
But I also think that the stress of having two kids in high school, two careers, and two aging parents definitely exacerbated whatever was happening to me physically. If I was an orphaned DINK, I think I would feel like I was 30. I just don't have the time to take care of myself. |
It hit me at 45.5, and it hit hard. |
I feel like its whack-a-mole with my body/health these days. First I got this random neck pinched nerve thing that took forever to go away and when it was finally better I now have this weird toe pain - I hope its not gout! Its always something. Plus the annual checks are soul sucking - GP, Gyn, Mammo, Skin check, etc. Pretty soon I need a colonoscopy. Ugh. |
Whaaaat! No! Omg what is going on, is this a troll? |
Yes agree. Altho i didnt get fit until my 50s. It went well, no problems. |
Make sure you try the armour version not just synthroid |
I absolutely felt this at 45 which also coincided with the pandemic. But I have doubled time on physical and spending time in ways that make me happy. I feel much much better. |
Some of this is perspective. I don’t find these visits “soul sucking” at all. I had all the same visits plus cardiologist. It was a logistical pain and occasional time suck. But it felt great to get everything checked off and done, confirm I like those doctors, etc. |
NP but I felt young and healthy until right after I turned 50. In short order developed an eye issue, heartburn (thought it was a heart attack), slight weight gain, back pain…it’s been a doozy. And it’s the age when despite getting checked out, any of those things could be serious. Which never would have occurred to me in my 40s. |
