There are literally more than 1,800 schools in the U.S. that offer bachelors degree. So i’d assume pretty much any school that isn’t in the top 100-150?..

Right?! There are so many schools out there where a student can find the right fit for them.

If Syracuse, it’ll be one of the general programs and not Newhouse or Maxwell.

Full pay helps a lot at the SLAC - if full pay possible to bump up if ED, if not full pay bump down to the lower tier

For the 25-50th percentile, some of the “name brand” schools that are considered decent - American, skidmore, Syracuse, conn college, holy cross, Dickinson, Elon, trinity, providence college, Pitt

2nd tier public’s - SUNY, UMBC(CP is out), JMU(VT is out), UVermont, Alabama, ole miss, South Carolina, Clemson, Kentucky, Tennessee

For the bottom 25% if full pay - sewanee, high point, muhlenberg, Wheaton, st anslems
Public options: the small, satellite state schools, UWest Virginia, ASU

All these schools are pretty much looked down on by their peers and the parents at these schools. The reality of the 50th percentile kid still ending up at a BC or similar is gone. If closer to 50th percentile and full pay you can still ED to decent schools with somewhat of a chance - ie bucknell, Tulane, UGA

Jealous people are talking out of their butts. Wealthy mid-pack prep schoolers get into Michigan, Wake Forest, and even UChicago with ease.

That’s interesting. Source(s)?

Bethesda Magazine reports an acceptance rate under 20 percent for W school applicants to Richmond...would you rather have that or 50/50?

dp.. ok, but they didn't pay for private school.

huh?
Not mid pack from DC and not in 2024.

WF, Michigan and Chicago were all 3.7+ from our school last year whereas the average GPA is a 3.5 and OP is talking about a 3.4.
Look at the SCOIR data. Oh, you don't have access to it because your kid graduated in 2005 or is currently a 5th grader?
Thought so.

no way they are getting into Mich with "ease".

Tulane? Must be ED

no one getting in Tulane with those stats unless a super elevated schedule. Many SEC schools also hard this year.

Tulane ED acceptance rate is 68%. Some of you really have no idea what you’re talking about.

Nope. I know kids that had 1450 SAT and above 90 gpa from big 3's that were defered and even denied.

DC with GPA below 3.4 (probably bottom half of class), 33 ACT at a big 3 admitted to most NESCAC schools except for top ones (like Amherst and Williams and Bowdoin).

And for many or most families, college admissions isn't the main or even a top reason why they "pay for private school." It isn't for us. Maybe somewhere from the 6th to 10th reason.

From a Big 3? Oh yes they do.

Correct. Big 3 does help with long shot admissions for average students. Is it fair? No. But none of this is fair in any way.
