Where does the bottom half of the class go to college? (Big 3-5)

Big three students are going to High Point? Really?!

They all get into Michigan with ease. Tulane and SMU too. And huge SEC party schools.

Christopher Newport University is a good option for the bottom half of a Big 3 or 5 or 9 class. Maybe start at NOVA to prove that you've got the stuff.

Uh, no.
3.75/35 was the lowest at my kid's Big3 school in the last 2 years.

This is crazy. All that stress and those sacrifices for a 50/50 chance to end up at U of Richmond? The shame, the shame

There are literally more than 1,800 schools in the U.S. that offer bachelors degree. So i’d assume pretty much any school that isn’t in the top 100-150?..

As test optional goes away, their chances will get better.

I agree. It’s pure insanity.

Writing broadly, 2nd tier publics (many in-state) and SLACs.

I'm curious about the class of 2025 because at our school there are a lot of low GPAs--the average for this year is about a 3.5 while it's often a 3.65. I have no idea where all these kids will land since a 3.8 is required for just about any name brand school talked about on DCUM.

It feels like this model (the Big3 "work really hard for an average GPA of 3.5 because the colleges will understand" one) is a dying one as the rest of the world inflates grades up and up and up some more.

Every year the college counseling offices eek out decent acceptances for almost all the kids. However, I feel like one of these years everyone under the 50% in a grade will be shut out to all schools except (picking a random school) Temple and the entire Big3 model will crash and these private $60K DC high schools will become irrelevant.

which school is this?

At our school, which is more of a medium 5-10 locally (as opposed to big 3-5) we see a handful at:

Elon
Tulane
College of Charleston
Temple
Fordham
Plus a variety of SLACs (Skidmore, F&M, Dickinson, etc).

Bethesda Magazine reports an acceptance rate under 20 percent for W school applicants to Richmond...would you rather have that or 50/50?
