SUNY colleges are a steal for in-state and pretty reasonable OOS too.

Another poster here. The room and board brings it up to about 27,000-28,000. Still a great deal. I know families with kids at Bing and Buffalo. The kids are all doing well and are happy so far.

Assuming great grades, Kansas, Arizona, Iowa, and Alabama all will come in well under $50K for tuition plus room & board, and all will offer the rah rah experience (more hoops-flavored than football at the first two). Kansas and Arizona also offer excellent honors colleges (Iowa and Bama are solid).

Would I pay double to send my kid to WI? Only if kid really wanted that.

UT Austin is a weird case bcs they give in state to OOS kids as merit. But that's super hard to get into and get the waiver

Texas is nearly impossible to be admitted these days OOS. My legacy kid was rejected with an UWGPA of 3.9 and ACT score of 35.
