Best state school for under 50k OOS?

Looking for "classic college experience" Big U for under 50k.

For humanities econ/history kinda kid.

We're full pay so he'll try for T20 schools but want another option that offers value.

SATs now are 1540, but may take once more.

Live in NYC so Bing is our in-state and his baseline ie won't pay more for something less attractive (although Bing lacks a lot of the Big U qualities so not quite just a rankings game)

Buffalo has more of the Big State U vibe than Bing.

The southern flagships schools will give merit for high SATs and gpas like that. Look at South Carolina, uga, Bama, auburn. Pitt and Indiana might too.

There are lots (Georgia, Clemson, NC State, VATech, UMD Penn State, Pitt, Michigan State to name just a few), but the in-state SUNY tuition is really hard to beat!

Do you mean “full cost of attendance under $50K” or just “OOS tuition under $50K”?

University of Florida is about 40k for OOS tuition, room and board. With those scores, you would likely get a little merit aid too. It has awesome sports, great Greek life, and tons of school spirit.
