Not unique to APS, but elected school boards have not been helpful in Virginia. Too much focus by SB members on getting re-elected or preparing to run for a different elected position, and not enough focus by SB members on academics and giving all children an appropriate education. Sigh.

I read in ArlNow that Chen Ling (an Ashlawn parent) is running for School Board. Are their other candidates? Two seats are open...what happens if only one person runs?

Yes, it would be nice if there were/are more candidates running so that unqualified unopposed candidates don't end up getting a seat at the table without really earning it.

Apparently APE chairs all the ACTL committees now. I loved watching them praise Dr. Durán and APS up and down at the ACTL work session! I guess now that MT is on the board, they are big supporters.

Also loved watching the APE-chair's head explode when staff explained to them that the All In tutoring isn't helpful. You can see it on video.
