DCUM in book form? Books like Fleishman or Pineapple Street?

I see similarities to DCUM, but a lot that was dissimilar.
It seemed to me that a large focus of the book was about some of the family members becoming vaguely aware that they are snobs because of all their money, and feeling guilty about it. To me, DCUM has a lot of strivers who want to achieve that super-duper upper crust status and not so much that they have always had gobs and gobs of money.

I liked the book.

I think it’s like DCUM in that there is so much family tension without each person looking at his or her role in it.

I am the person who just finished Pineapple Street.
Thanks for sharing your point of view on the similarities. I totally see what you are talking about.

Most of these are more NY than DC.

Admission by Jean Hanff Korleitz is about an admissions officer at Princeton with family/partner tensions. Can’t get much more DCUM than that.

Girls With Bright Futures by Tracey Dobmeier and Wendy Katzman. Early Decision by Lacy Crawford.

Murder in Georgetown, by Jacque Rodman

Local author (friend of a friend) - I think it’s her first novel. Fast-paced mystery with plenty of DCUM type details. It’s well-constructed but not perfect - I feel like it could have used a stronger or more professional edit? But I definitely enjoyed it and hope the author continues the series.
