It’s that time of year, hit me with your favorite salads.

Prior poster here: I realized the recipe calls cole slaw or cabbage mix. I did half this and half kale.

Tossed the noodles in at warm to room temp and it softened up the kale a bit (which I prefer). My “I hate kale” hubby even took seconds. His comment “You are trying to trick me into liking something I don’t like.”

I’ve done this one! Salami on salad gets points for sure but I will say I don’t repeat it often.

That's not how you diet, people.

I'm doing stews, curries, hearty soups, etc. Actual seasonal food. Those don't need to be loaded with fat and salt, and can be just has healthy, and probably more nutritious, than salads.

I get your point, and salad green/baby greens and sprouts are the easiest thing to grow indoors. A small growlight and two bins, staggered two weeks apart, and you'll have fresh salad all winter long. Sprouts don't even need a growlight. This is how I get my gardening fix when it's too cold to grow outside and too early to start the seedlings.

She's already been mentioned a few times, but Kat Can Cook has a lot of great salads!
This one is very filling and full of contrasting flavors. I love that it keeps for a few days:

I’m not trying to diet. In my world salad season is after all of the heavy Christmas season food. I love winter salads and when spring and summer hot, I’ll use fresh berries instead of dried or pomegranate or citrus. I didn’t know salads were so controversial.

They’re not. A few posters seem clueless.

I think if OP had just written, "hit me with your favorite salads" there wouldn't be this kerfuffle. But she implied it is "the time of year" for salads, and people are disagreeing for many reasons, including but not limited to:

1. salad time is all year long
2. many people prefer warmer, heartier dishes in the winter
3. it can be read as "time to diet, ladies!" which is slightly annoying

I like a salad of arugula, roasted beets, a ball of burrata, pistachios and orange segments! Especially if the beets are still warm from the oven.

I always like lots of vegetables after the richness of holiday foods along with travel. It’s a nice reset.
