Now is soup and stew season, which are plenty healthy and often be way healthier (and filling) than salads.

+1

I think of summer as salad season with all the fresh produce. I prefer hearty, warming foods in the winter.

I was guessing that maybe people making New Year’s resolutions to diet wanted salad recipes, but judging from previous posters, I guess they actually enjoy winter salads.

Melissa Clark’s lentil salad with roasted root vegetables. I leave out the celeriac/turnips and use a mix of red and golden beets.

It is NOT that time of the year. Salads are for summer in the northern hemisphere.

That's not how you diet, people.

I'm doing stews, curries, hearty soups, etc. Actual seasonal food. Those don't need to be loaded with fat and salt, and can be just has healthy, and probably more nutritious, than salads.

I love the “Jennifer Aniston salad,” with quinoa, chickpeas, cucumbers, etc. I do rend to crave it more in warm weather but there’s no bad time for a good salad, especially non-lettuce based ones.

January is the WORST month for salad time. If you're thinking of this in the context of dieting, that's probably why you're having so much trouble...

Are you actually looking at most of the salads listed? Are you suggesting that you don't eat the referenced vegetables throughout winter?

Nobody on here is suggesting a tomato corn salad with strawberries.

Unless it's 80F where you are, get out of here with your salads!
