Can I ask a question? Do the kids who grow up eating “kid recipes” end up healthy?

Anonymous
I grew up eating those. My parents did try to offer a variety but there were a lot of chicken nuggets and fish sticks in our house. My brother was even pickier and would barely touch a vegetable. We are both very healthy and fit in our 30s, and always have been. Neither of us are picky eaters now, we will eat just about anything.

What a politely veiled racist sneer, OP. Well played.

Do you eat rice? Pretty much the worst food on the planet.

Has OP been back?

If you come to a party any of my Indian clan’s
homes you’ll see a buffet of samosas, parathas, deep-fried poori, creamy dals and meat dishes, buttery biryanis and all manner of sweets. We don’t have special genes. These are occasional treats and we take small portions.

Yes! I am Indian-American and was going to say the same. Way unhealthier than that stuff OP listed.

And yes our community is "healthy" as adults - that's mostly just a socioeconomic thing.

BS. Indians are unhealthy and fat or skinny fat as hell. Low muscle tone, diabetes, high BP, etc. Your food and the constant parties serving this junk are killing you. And walking a couple of laps around the neighborhood or playing slow tennis now and then doesn’t help. I personally know of 3 Indian people in their 40’s and 50’s this year who dropped dead on the tennis court.

That means it is plentiful and cheap, not that it is a nutritional rock star. Americans eat a ton of wheat and corn; again, cheap and plentiful, not the most nutritious food.

Rice is fine, but it’s not great, and there are many healthier choices. That doesn’t mean people shouldn’t eat rice as a staple, it’s just a silly argument to say it is great for you just because lots of people eat it.

No it's definitely not fine. My son is a type I diabetic so we see how various food impact his blood sugar and how difficult it is to control blood sugar.

Worst foods?
Rice
Mexican food (combo of high fat / high carb)
Pizza

That's why there is a huge issues with type 2 diabetes in India, Asians in general (skinny type 2s) and south America.

But yes, people of northern European heritage can consume stupendous quantities of cheese. I grew up in a cheese factory town and think cheese at every meal is normal. Cheese is so good.

True. The typical Dutch diet is full of bread, cheese, saturated fat, etc. In the creche there incase surprised that the kids ate pate on toast and minimal fruits. However, these are the tallest and quite possibly most healthy people on Earth. So my suggestion is to stop judging other people OP. If you need to hear it 'yes, what ever you are doing the the best in the world'

+1

And the parents who fuss most end up with fat kids and adults.

My whole family is slim and athletic. We have no food restrictions.

What’s the point of your post OP? To show how superior your “Asian” diet is?

I grew up eating kid recipes and I am now very healthy. I grew up eating fast food all the time, and now I am a vegan who makes nearly all my meals at home.

You as a parent have less influence than you think, OP.

I think it’s a lot easier to be relaxed about food when your kids are naturally athletic and/or very active.

I know a person who ate almost exclusively cereal and other crap food like grilled cheese made in the microwave when they were a child. As an adult they broadened their diet to include very healthy foods. Physically they appeared to be very healthy at that point, but who is to say whether intellectually they might have been smarter with a more nutritious diet as a child. This person has always been on the low average end of the smart spectrum.
