Will America vote for Kamala Harris in 2024? This is the real question.

I’m the PP you’re responding to. Yes, a diversity hire. Biden very nakedly chose her as his VP to pander to the identity politics faction of the Democratic Party. You offered no serious criticism. You just said she’s an idiot, when she is more intelligent and more accomplished and more qualified than any of the Republican Presidential candidates who offer nothing but idiotic nonsense, ridiculous lies, and imaginary culture war grievances. With all of your delusional clowns in the House, Senate, and Red State Governors, Republicans can’t call anyone an idiot, yet it is the only thing you ever say about Black women, no matter how accomplished they are.

You can't be serious. Either you go through life with blinders and earplugs on or you are just seriously not very bright. Here are some of the greatest hits from the woman you call "more intelligent, accomplished, and qualified" blah blah blah. Nikki Haley would like a word.

“So, Ukraine is a country in Europe.”

“It exists next to another country called Russia,” she continued. “Russia is a bigger country. Russia is a powerful country. Russia decided to invade a smaller country called Ukraine. So, basically, that’s wrong, and it goes against everything that we stand for.”
***

“You know, every election cycle we talk about this is the most election of our lifetime,” Harris said, without correcting herself.

“Lawrence, this one is, this one is,” she told the host.

“We are literally talking about people who are attempting to divide our country in the most crude, frankly, and profound way,” she said. “We are talking about those who are intent and purposeful to, to attack fundamental freedoms.”

She continued: “The freedom to be free from fear of violence and hate … the freedom to just … be. The freedom to just be.”
***

“I have been fortunate and blessed during the course of being vice president to have many situations where it becomes too clear me that there are people … of every age and gender, by the way, who see something about being the first that lets them know they don’t need to be, um, limited by other people’s limited, um, understanding of who can do what,” she rambled.
***

She said, "We invested an additional $12 billion into community banks, because we know community banks are in the community, and understand the needs and desires of that community as well as the talent and capacity of community."
***

Harris stated, "We also recognize just as it has been in the United States, for Jamaica, one of the issues that has been presented as an issue that is economic in the way of its impact has been the pandemic."

"So to that end, we are announcing today also that we will assist Jamaica in COVID recovery by assisting in terms of the recovery efforts in Jamaica that have been essential to, I believe, what is necessary to strengthen not only the issue of public health but also the economy."
***

"It’s time for us to do what we have been doing, and that time is every day."
***

"Every day it is time for us to agree that there are things and tools that are available to us to slow this thing down. And so right now we know we still have a number of people that, that is in the millions of Americans who have not been vaccinated, and could be vaccinated, and we are urging them to get vaccinated because it will save their life," Harris said.
***

"I think that, to be very honest with you, I do believe that we should have rightly believed, but we certainly believe that certain issues are just settled. Certain issues are just settled."
***

"We've got to take this stuff seriously, as seriously as you are because you have been forced to take this seriously."

DP. Absolutely this. I'm no HRC fan, but at least she would be fully competent and capable in the role of president.

I'm the PP you are responding to. I happen to like Harris. And as an Asian American myself, I am proud that we have an Asian American woman serving as VP of the US. Unlike the other PP who responded earlier, I believe she's smart. What I don't think is that she is appropriately political, she is brash and often speaks before she thinks. She has qualities that made her a good litigator, which is how she made it up the chain to be a US Senator and not President of the Senate. That said, she has some of the same issues that make Trump and Biden bad candidates in that she is subject to verbal gaffes and she often speaks before she thinks. She also has more legislative experience than executives. There is a reason that for most of the US history, that governors make better Presidents than Congressmen or Senators because legislative experience is not a good measure of executive performance. The two branches of government work differently and the skills to work effectively in the legislative branch do not always convey to working effectively in the executive branch.

Whitmer is much more polished and better at public speaking and presentations. She has more executive experience and she has far better management skills.

If you are going to try to cast my views as racist, I'll also say that I would consider Michelle Lujan-Grisham to be very similar in experience and capability to Whitmer. In fact, with her Congressional experience, she is arguably stronger. However, Whitmer has national name recognition and she has made national headlines both for her work in leading the very purple state and for the domestic terrorist exposure on her, than Lujan-Grisham, who has much more limited national name-recognition.

Nice summation.

Not too happy that Biden will be the Dem nominee. Less happy to have Harris on the ticket. It will be a bit tough to vote for them.

Absolutely impossible to vote for Trump or DeSantis or any of those clowns.

Pretty disappointed in both parties most popular candidates. Are there no quality candidates willing to run this country?

I’m a nonwhite woman. I think both are true - a woman can win, but not a woman AND a minority. One or the other. And I honestly don’t care. I am fine with this being the state of the world for now, progress is incremental.

I also agree that Harris is a quintessential diversity hire who is not a substantively good candidate and has been a huge disappointment. I don’t want her to be president.

Diversity hire? Harris has been an ELECTED official - in a state with a 6% black population. And she'll be a two-term VP. And...maybe president one day.

You can start gnashing your teeth now.

I’m the PP you’re responding to. Yes, a diversity hire. Biden very nakedly chose her as his VP to pander to the identity politics faction of the Democratic Party. I have no doubt that she’s an ambitious and intelligent person, and yes, she was an elected official. That doesn’t mean she wasn’t a diversity hire for her current role. And she has not proven herself to be a great fit for the job either. She comes off as an empty suit. I voted for HRC in 2016, and in my view there is a stark difference between the two of them in competency, presence, and who I would want picking up the phone at 3 AM, to quote an old HRC ad.

I’m a Democrat. I’ll reluctantly vote for the Biden/Harris ticket over Trump or any of the insane Republicans who are running in 2024, but truthfully I am not confident that Biden will live through 2028 and I really do not want Harris to be president. She’s fine as a senator or ambassador or even a cabinet head, but I don’t feel great about having her in charge.

What has she actually done in her role as VP that makes you question her competence?

Just because someone is an underrepresented minority, and that is viewed as a plus by some, does not mean the person is not qualified or competent. Those of you continuously saying that she's an idiot or lacks competence or was merely a diversity hire, please tell us, in what ways is she actually unqualified for the job? Or are you maybe just a bigot who can't possibly see a Black woman as competent?
