| I think no one should be allowed to make any decisions about schools unless they have children in the system. |

We have two teachers this year in public who are using textbooks. One only had a limited supply so they asked families who could to buy a copy for their kids for at home (or there was an online version). It was under $20 used, older copy.
For the environmentalists, these books are used over and over again. |
Textbooks or not, its easy to white wash history. |
My kid finally got textbooks - two in HS. The difference with studying is night and day. Its very hard to study things like biology (no textbook) and learn it well. |
| Textbooks are far superior to scattered printouts and digital files. |
| DC brings home stapled packets of poor quality worksheets and maps for Social Studies since there are no textbooks. They just fill in the blanks. There’s no note taking. Then they just memorize these bulleted worksheets for the exam. There’s no continuity and a lack of context without a textbook to read. They are just looking at Google Slides and filling in these blanks. It’s all very low quality and ineffective to learning. They waste tons of paper on all these packets that they printout each unit. |
| My daughter's teacher says its fine for her that there is no textbook since she has been teaching for many years, but for new teachers, they spend a crazy amount of time trying to find resources and essentially writing a curriculum as they go. Much, much easier to have a textbook. Plus, as the mom of twins, I can tell you one teacher teaches entirely different things than another - so teachers are missing things and skipping around. Textbooks at least provide some continuity. |
| They're amazing over here. I wish we could do the same here. America looks sadder and sadder with every second passing by.... |

I love Obama but history will not look kindly on how he equated excellence in the classroom with tech in the classroom.
Learning digitally is absolutely terrible for children. It’s disorganized, hurts their eyes and hands, inhibits autonomy, and contributes to tech addition. |
Sounds like they're looking backward now. Next they'll be using handwritten manuscripts or scrolls. |
There are so many Ludies that are so poorly informed... |
I had these 50-year-old textbooks when I was in school. It was riddled with errors. |
Are they actually omitting things or are they just not teaching CRT like you want them to? |
Software as a service as a model in general sucks. For schools and business and consumers. This is true. I don’t think that means textbooks are a better option. |
Teaching children the Civil War was about “states rights” is omitting some things, yes. CRT has never been taught in K-16 schools so not sure why you interjected with thar. Weird. |
