FCPS is ultimately run by recently-elected, DEI-obsessed morons.

FCPS is increasingly incompetent.

Either hire your own tutors or consider private school.

Nope. FCPS has always been like this. You just chose not to notice when the incompetents were mostly Republicans.

NP bumping this thread. My child failed 3rd and 4th grade math SOLs and has poor VGA scores and the school has done nothing (except encourage us to do the SOL retakes). We are looking for a tutor because the school isn't going to help. "All in Virginia" is total Bullshit.

Does your child have a disability- like learning disability or adhd? Is it possible that they could have an undiagnosed learning disability?

Failing SOLS is a big deal, and not very typical for children who do not have some disability, are English learners, or who have attendance issues.

Consider 1) email the principal 2) request a local screening committee to discuss academic concerns.bat the meeting, Document all below grade level scores and what intervention the school has done. Consider if child needs special education testing (educational and psychological testing) to see if he child has an educational disability.

Also pursue the free tutoring options available from FCPS

I agree that failing SOLs is not good, but it is also common at some FCPS ESes where the teaching is not good, and the children are "regular" kids without special circumstances. Especially post-Covid. Lots of failing happening.

Yes FCPS is certainly not publicizing this but their test scores are not good.

Here's an example (and this school has an AAP center so that should boost the scores):

64% total passing for math, 68% for reading.

Responsibility for what? It’s not their kid it’s yours.
