DC should be a small Federal District and the rest of the district should be a part of MD and/or VA. Voting rights solved, Feds responsible for their portions of it, states handle the rest.

Yep, it would be better to be run by random names picked from the phone book in Annapolis or Richmond than by Congress, which in itself would be better than what we have now.

This thread has to be a joke. Congress can't even pick a Speaker, let alone deal with crime. They are even more dysfunctional than our crappy Council and Mayor.

The Feds are sandbagging DC.

Explain, please?

Weirdo republican judges? I read the opinion in one of those cases (Mayo, with the officers making a diving tackle) - it was written by an Obama appointee.

Thankfully, judges of all stripes are against illegal searches and seizures.

We've also hit a 20-year high in homicides, matching the grim statistics of 2003. With violent crime up by 40% and property crime by 25%, these aren't just numbers – they represent a growing threat to our safety.

This leads us to a crucial question: should the federal government intervene? The Constitution gives Congress significant power over D.C., allowing it to step in, especially in crisis situations where local governance struggles. This is a rare and complex decision, balancing local autonomy against federal oversight.

Is it time to consider federal action to address these serious safety concerns? Your thoughts on this delicate balance are crucial for a meaningful discussion.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

No, now please go back to whatever midwestern city you are from.

Can't be any worse. Bring it on.

What’s the purpose of throwing millions of federal dollars into stabilizing crime when the city will inevitably elect another batch of left-wing idiots who will drag the District back into the same situation it’s in today?
