Northeastern, Boston University or BC for comp sci

Northeastern is better "known" for CS, and their CO-OP program is strong, but all three schools will give you a great education and career result PROVIDED you put the work in.

BC is not the suburbs.

Most of BC is in Newton, MA - I think that is what PP is referring to. Most people do nto relaize this, especially not having visited, in person.

NEU co op program is a real plus. If your kids can get into NEU on the Boston campus from freshman year (not one of their many satellite campuses) I would do that. Otherwise do BU for CS. BC is a pass as it is not as strong as the other two for CS and is not in Boston.

The campus is in Boston have very different vibes from Boston College. I suggest you visit. Some kids have a strong preference after seeing them in in person.

Not doing ED1 puts you at a disadvantage.

Huge disadvantage. Look on college confidential. Every post on the topic here gets deleted

It has nothing to do with which campus. You seem hung up on this. Is your DC unable to handle studying abroad? NEU is very business saavy, and make sure their students have the best education, like it or not. I hope your kid is admitted. If not, please do not come crying back to us, because it is obvious and desperate. If you know how to move on, your kid will, too.

Wesleyan's ED rate this year was almost 45%. This is how ED should work. Who knows what NEU's ED rate is for this round will be. But it better be higher than its regular decision rate of 6%. How stupid to ED to a school like Cornell where they pull the rug out from students at the last minute. Begging students to apply ED, then right before admission decisions are released put out a statement that they are going to accept fewer ED applicants in the name of equity.

NP. BU had a CS program long before the new building opened...

But historically, BU has not been known for their CS.
