VDA has a field, home and coaches. |
Are you referring to this guy? Is he still there? https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/862017.page |
FCV has known about the Evergreen issue for years. This should not be a surprise to anyone. |
I don’t think it’s a matter of Revolution growing so much, but more a fact of not having competing clubs using their space. I heard, from someone who would know, that they aren’t close to having it filled and some of the ‘powers that be’ aren’t satisfied with the growth and direction of the club. Understandable when you look at how their top teams perform in EDP, etc. Maybe why they are rumored to be bringing CC in? As PP mentioned, FCV has known that the fields issue would hit. There may not be an ideal solution, but they should be able to figure it out. CC leaving is a bigger issue. |
FCV was supposed to be moving to their own, new field. This presentation was given to us in the spring and is still on the website but there hasn’t been any communication since so assuming it fell through or is delayed. https://cdn1.sportngin.com/attachments/document/4161-2920932/FCV_United_Program_Guide_2023_2024.pdf “The St James in partnership with Fairfax County Parks Service will be announcing a field partnership program that will begin in 2023. The fields will be located on the Loudoun / Fairfax border in western Fairfax which will provide a centralized training location which will be the future home of TSJ FC Virginia Academy Program for U13-U19 as well as support regional core programming in the Chantilly area” |
It will be interesting to see the what is announced shortly in the new year between FCV and VDA since they are going through similar things primarily with staffing. I think both are making ends meet with people stepping up into roles they were not asked to do but as previously mentioned, at least VDA seems to have a secure home within PWC. I recall hearing the same announcement of a location agreement but I have not seen anything to support that from Fairfax, nor is there any existing field that makes the announcement make any sense as far as I know. |
VDA is great and has nothing to do with FCV. |
Considering that they both lost coaches this year that carried other big roles within the club I'd say that it's similar situations. Aside from the fact that CC is leaving on his own terms and MW was fired due to his allegations. |
The optics weren't great with the whole MW situation. Have to tread lightly when discussing that, this board is pro-VDA and anti-FCV. Anything negative, even personal opinions towards VDA gets yanked real fast. |
Field space and location is pretty significant. |
MW clearly monitoring the board. |
Or VDA staff... |
I doubt VDA staff. They fired him and washed their hands of his situation. |
Need to protect the image of the club. |
Image is big especially in this day and age of social media. But from the outside looking in I'd say that a pretty accurate statement especially when seeing things on this board would be that, nothing is ever as good as it may appear here nor is anything as bad as it may appear here. |
