FYI, it's called Desperately Seeking Soulmate:Escaping Twin Flame Universe. I really liked the two women, one was named Ann, rmthat the show ends with. Much better show. |
| I watched both documentaries and my take-away was the power of unrequited love was helping with the leaders' lack of charisma and intelligence. The guy from the Sarah Lawrence cult was at least a very cunning psychopath. Jeff just seems like your average grifter who got lucky by hitting on something that has people really emotionally invested. |

This show is yet more evidence that churches should not be tax exempt. Whether it's your imaginary friend in the sky or a Jesus wannabe Millenial grifter...neither merits tax exemption. It's so disgusting to me that these monsters are not only victimizing so many dupes but that they're avoiding taxes on their income as well.
As a former Catholic who grew up during the liberation theology yearsC where we actually tied to follow Christ's teachings, I cannot fathom how anyone would find it attractive or appealing to warch videos of people like this flaunting their ill gotten wealth, the same way I am puzzled by anyone who follows profiteering evangelists. Isn't the propsperity gospel pretty much the antithesis of the gospel? It's sickening. |
Ok thanks - will check that out |
I wish her LinkedIn was up because I think I worked with her years ago. |
She's a monster. Why didn't the military court martial her? And Keely for that matter comes across just as bad. She literally bullied women into CHANGING THEIR GENDER even though you can tell she had many opportunities to stop and tell Jeff and Shalooloo or whatever to STFU. I listened to the podcast on Wondery - they go into more detail of how Elle and Keely were a**holes. Unbelievable story overall. My ex-husband, a rapist, is actually from Farmington Hills, Michigan. That's where these cult leaders used to live. Got pretty damn triggered because I may have been getting abused in Farmington Hills around the time Fake Jesus and his toadies were doing all this abuse. |
Sorry that this show triggered you and even sorrier that you had such an abusive marriage. I agree with your points but did feel that Keely showed deep remorse for her actions. She also has no relationship with her sister now which is very painful to her. However. Bullying cult members into changing genders is bizarre and cruel. |
I actually listened to that podcast when it first came out and it's way better than the docuseries. I admit I kinda stalked the members' socials after listening to the podcast last year but maybe it's a good thing because I saw Victoria Bonilla's Facebook posts before she set her FB to private. Victoria wrote about how Keely was throwing a tantrum on TikTok about how the Wondery podcast focused on Angie's and Victoria's perspective, and she said that Keely abused her so much that she was puking and praying for God to kill her. And she said that what came out in the podcast was like 1% of what Keely really did. At least to Victoria. I didn't buy Keely's fake tears in the docuseries after reading those FB posts. Sounds like she may have also read what Victoria wrote and decided to cover her bases. |
| thank you to 00:10 and to 00:17 - wow! |
Wow. Well that cult expert lady was certainly egging on Keely in the documentary. I was kind of taken in until I began reading reddit and this comment. I'm going to listen to the podcast before I make a decision about Keely. |
It's worse than "bizarre", it's basically a kind of rape. Frankly Keely should be in jail along with Jeff and Megan. She clearly had her own god complex if she thought she had the authority to tell people whether they were men or women. I don't buy that she was just "brainwashed" into it, just like I don't buy that Elle innocently wandered into a club and got thrown in jail. You need a ton of hard evidence to put a restraining order on somebody. |
| Watching on Netflix now. I had never heard about this. Complete INSANITY!!!! |
The red flag for me was them saying the child would be sexually satisfied by God abs Jeff saying that he was Jesus.... |
yeah I think I agree with this, actually. |
|
keely came off as a real POS to me too. I could never imagine exploiting and brainwashing my younger sister, AND my siblings and I also come from a broken home like marly and keely do.
But I guess it's people like that who end up in cults. Someone from DCUM who lives in Michigan needs to call child services on that evil couple, stat. |
