(Very) Discreet Nanny Cams

chances are, your nanny worked for someone better than you, so you should trust her previous references. To all the PPs who do not think references have any validity. Anyway, any nanny with experience will see through you paranoia and will not agree to work for you.

I put that there were cameras in my ad.

I assume I’m on camera. I don’t mind. The worst thing they’ll see is me on my phone. They’ll also see how much extra work I do around the house that’s not expected of me.

There's a device to check hidden cameras

Hiding cameras is illegal

And hackers likes hacking cameras and record your kids

Nanny here.

I recommend cameras. I don't want to know where they are, just that they are there. I especially recommend them if there are any special needs (especially violence) and/or children who are not reliable narrators or are nonverbal.

I was a nanny for a summer once. They didn't tell me they had cameras.

Baby projectile puked and pooped allll over me in the living room. I took off my shirt (wearing a tank underneath) and started to clean up.

What I didn't know was that the dad would sometimes check the cameras at work. He happened to check when I took my shirt off. It wouldn't have been such a big deal, but apparently he was in a meeting and sharing his screen wrong. Everybody in the meeting saw me get puked on, take my shirt off, and start cleaning up in my tank top and bra.

I didn't consent for strangers to watch me undress and I was so embarrassed.

That’s normal. No one wants to feel watched all the time. Creepy. Rude.

Do you mean discrete? Discrete is ok. Hidden cameras are not.

Discreet, not discrete. You used the wrong word.

I agree. I did what people suggested and hired an experienced seemingly kind woman who abused my kids. I was suspicious pretty quickly because of things I saw. She ignored them and stuck them in activity seats for hours. They screamed and cried and she dragged one out of his seat roughly because she couldn't hear the person she was on the phone with.

I agree. Not with cameras but I caught a bad nanny feeding my baby and another baby with the same spoon. Nasty b. Fired on the spot.
