Taking baby ToT

Each year when my kids were little, dh and I would take turns handing out candy. One of us would take our kids out, while the other one stayed home. When it was time to switch, we’d leave the candy bowl outside and meet up in the neighborhood. The candy was only unattended for a few minutes before the other parent returned, but we were usually cleaned out during that time. The only year I actually saw it happen, a group of parents were chatting on the sidewalk while a two year old at my door grabbed as many handfuls of candy as they could stuff in their bucket.

ETA: I understand that wasn’t a baby doing it, just wanted to share because I always imagined it was older kids.

Ignore these naysayers. We always give extra candy to the parents of babies. Yes we are fully aware the parents are going to eat it. So what? Babies
are a p.i.t.a and sometimes you want a snickers after a long day of wiping poop and all that.

That was what I was wondering too.

We moved to a very rural area in western MA. We basically live in the woods. I would love to live in a lively little neighborhood and hand out candy!

Are you OP? This is confusing if so. Where are you walking with this baby to to get a few pieces of candy if you live in a rural area without not many houses?

People in rural areas go trick or treating too.

I would definitely judge an adult taking candy with their baby. Just eat the candy you bought for giving out???

I did it with my 15 month old last year, just to the 6 houses in my cul de sac, along with the 6 and 8 yr olds who live across the street. I would have felt awkward going to strangers’ houses.

Going to a neighborhood that you don’t live in with a baby to TOT is too much for me.

This is the way

That's one way. Any way is acceptable.

Please send your babies and dogs to my house too.

Please post your address if you really want our dogs and babies to come over.

Yes I’m OP. So it’s a rural town, we live in the most rural part. However, there are 2 or so neighborhoods that are known for trick or treating.

So you'd be going trick or treating to a bunch of strangers' homes--not even your neighbors? Yeah, that's weird.

It’s fine. I don’t care and want all the candy gone

I love when people bring their babies; always so adorable. I always give the parents candy.

Yes! Ignore the haters - people love seeing the baby and feel free to grab candy while you’re there.

Nobody wants to see your baby except for you. I'm not giving some loser parents and their baby candy wtf.

What a grinch. How sad. It’s about the experience and tradition with their child. Who cares if it’s just a baby or if the parents eat the candy? The family is out there in their community making memories with their family. No one is promised tomorrow. Let’s just all enjoy this life and the small joys while we can. It’s just candy. Can you not afford the extra cost?
