Agreed!

OP call the host today and ask if you can reschedule to another weekend. Explain the situation. They may be willing to work with you guys.

I can't understand if I am following these post correctly, but I think if you're military and this was a military related cancellation - it's worth a shot.

We don't weaponize that.

“Camping alone.” I thought you meant a tent. In a cabin, you’re probably fine.

Can you ask the employer for reimbursement since they canceled the vacation?

lol. OP DH's employer already has so little respect and fear of him that they stole his vacation. They know he'll turn the other cheek for any abuse.

I'm not comfortable staying alone with two preschoolers in a pretty isolated cabin with no cell phone reception and want to stay home, but because we're well past the cancellation deadline, we'll be out over $1000, which is substantial for us. What would you do?

Where In new England? I'll give $500 for it.

New Hampshire. They won't let use transfer, DH just found out.

We'll live. Just not fun.

That's stinks they won't let you transfer. I think his work should cover the loss.

Really? So you never go anywhere without 911 access? I'm sorry, but that's limiting.

That is correct.

I also would not stay anywhere that didn't have access to 911. Now this doesnt mean no cell service, we frequently do weekends away in places with no cell service. But they have landlines.

Sounds terrible! I agree that you’ll likely be safe but miserable.

That’s what I thought! This is the start of a crime novel. When it becomes a movie, the whole audience is shouting: “Don’t go!”

In an emergency you're screwed. If you are hurt on one will find you all. If kids get hurt you have no cell service. If a bear eats you, well it will be a while till anyone knows.

Heck no I would not stay there. I’d cancel.

Limiting? All resorts have 911 access so I do just fine. But in all seriousness, I have a child who had a medical emergency unexpectedly. Had we not had 911, we could have lost her.
