If that were true, then it wouldnt be a dump |
It’s literally true. Go read the article linked in the OP’s post:
Who ran the government in 2020 when this newly formed nonprofit was given a 50 year lease by NPS? |
WGAF? Are you going to pretend to live in DC and not know that every single administration does this? |
Off topic but I don’t know how someone would get away with a murder and/or hide a body in RCP undiscovered, unless it was in the middle of the night or during a snowstorm. I have never felt unsafe in any part of Rock Creek and no trail seems remote enough for screams or altercations to be unheard. I never go more than 3-5 minutes without seeing another hiker. There are way more remote trails in Montgomery County that you could actually get lost in and maybe not be heard if you cry for help. But certainly not RCP in DC. I guess it may have been different 20 years ago? |
It is hilarious that you think the National Parks Service awarding a concession is some sort of major conspiracy. |
+1. Also hilarious to think that Trump would care about this particular course. If you had golfed Trump national you would understand. |
| Get rid of the golf course. Simples. And cheap. |
Yes, people have picnics, set up screens and watch movies outside, ride horses, hike, swing in their hammocks, visit the turtles in the nature center or go to the planetarium. I go all the time and like sitting by the creek. |

Alright - head down there and get the details and report back here. |
You're right... it has more! 2.4 million. See: https://caseytrees.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/iTree-2015-Report_English.pdf |
If it helps you to better understand, there was also a woman who was attacked, raped and killed in that tiny patch of wooded area (I believe) by Canal Road in Georgetown?: "Warrick, now 60, is suspected of killing 29-year-old Christine Mirzayan in August 1998. She was sexually assaulted and murdered as she walked to her home in Georgetown. Her body was found near Whitehurst Freeway." You can look up her case. Chandra was dragged not far off the trail, bound with her leggings and murdered. You can probably be disabled fairly quickly with no screams or altercations by someone determined. It really stinks to be a more likely victim in America, woman, child (girl or boy), slight man, etc. I resent that I am upping my risk walking late at night or in secluded areas alone. I should be allowed to walk where I like. I wish I was free. I feel so very not free in Washington DC. the irony. Please be careful as you jog the park without a partner. NPS on renovation.
To restore the course, the National Park Service is proposing to remove more than 1,200 trees, of this total, more than 366 were determined to be in poor health or already dead, and nearly 190 are non-native, invasive species that pose a threat to native plant species, and nearly 291 are being removed to promote forest health. To mitigate for these tree removals, up to 200 native species trees would be planted in the course. Also, more than eight acres of meadows would be rehabilitated throughout the golf course, and an additional 4.5 acres would be planted in the northern section of the course. This would significantly increase the amount of meadow habitat in Rock Creek Park, a critically important action for the preservation of native pollinator species such as the Monarch butterfly and the many bee species that live in the park. |
