Interesting how they accept lower stat kids for instate, where in FL and Tx it’s the opposite - harder for instagram students.

I suspect your kid will struggle academically anywhere with a 26. Consider keeping them closer to home. Seriously.

That is not true. Several of my kid’s friends have test anxiety and struggle with these sorts of tests but are great in school.

The average ACT score among all test takers is 19. Seriously.

That's crazy talk. A 26 on the ACT is around the 80th percentile nationally. Let's not suggest people's kids will struggle without a bit more info.

You can’t really compare UT, as most students are auto-admit by HS class rank. Last time I looked, admit stats for in state non-auto admits and OOS were similar (very high).

Well regarded STEM schools have gotten more competitive nationwide, and Auburn saw applications increase 150% between 2020 and 2022, after they started taking the Common App. Applications were up another 5% for 2023.

No way that's true.

A ton of their class comes from Magnet schools nearby. Loveless Academic High School is actually in the Top of High schools in the Nation. There are quite a few in the same area. It was an incredibly hard school to get into and the magnet elementary schools would say that their job was developing a product to pass off. Most of the kids wanted to stay close to home and most would just go to Auburn with their friends.

We visited Auburn and DC loved the school and cute town. However, my DC was outright rejected last year and ended up at a top 40. It has gotten a lot harder to get into.

Sorry 9:34am poster here- I meant to say in-state students (not instagram). For UF and UT it is more difficult for respective in-state students to achieve admission. I have kids at both. My #3 and 26 act hoping for 28 really likes Auburn and I was shocked by the figures for OOS admits.
