I'm a DC resident, applied for my CCW, and I'm now carrying concealed

Clearly you do not get to certain rural parts of MD. Poor people in these parts don't tend to steal. They tend to work multiple jobs and they also tend to be armed and for some crazy reason they don't rob people.

So they have opportunities to work jobs commensurate with the cost of living and enough extra cash to buy weapons and ammo.

I did not ever get the sense that anybody there was eager to use their weapon. Crime was almost non existent due to most people not knowing who was armed so they minded their own business.

Rural Maryland is pretty poor.

Do you routinely wander around the empty countryside on your way to dinner at night?

This is a right wing fantasy but not the reality of rural life. There’s are fewer people and less of the type of crime that comes with an urban setting. But you’re still going to have domestic violence, property crimes, child abuse etc and then more robbery and violent crime when a community is struggling with drug use. Being white isn’t a protection against decline for a community. Look at West Virginia.

If you are worried just move out of DC.

I agree. If you're that worried just move. I don't want to leave in fear. DC is not worth it.

Do you know anything about guns? Or ammo? I am going to guess you do not if you are not aware of pricing. Stores tend to jack up their prices in urban areas. In rural areas, you can get weapons fairly cheap. Go look in a pawn shop and you will see what I mean.

Also, ever living in Western Maryland?
Again, I am going to guess not. If you did, you would not be asking such a question as you would already know the answer.

But yes, they can work multiple jobs and afford their dwellings and afford guns and ammo and still raise kids or live a life the way they chose that is not one they all despise which is "city life". Alot of them are hunters. Its a way of life for them.

You're far more likely to make it home alive than if you try to pull on gun on the thief. Because guess what--the gun toting criminals of DC are a lot handier with guns than you likely are. Don't be stupid.

Haha, criminals are notoriously bad with guns. Just look at any shooting video.

Only in the minds of some off-the-deep-end liberals.

Is this why you started this weird thread declaring yourself a legend in your own mind? To call people names?

My guess is you would piss your parents in a live fire situation.

I agree, some of the rural parts of MD may as well be WV. Hunting is a way of life. And most people out there dont care one bit about the way people live in Montgomery County, Howard County or DC. Form my experience, they look down on those areas as being less free.

They are rare enough to be newsworthy

You can have my car, my cell phone, my credit cards, and any other thing you want. But I am getting home to my family at the end of the day.

This city seems more worried about the wellbeing of criminals than law-abiding citizens. The most important job of government is protecting the safety of residents. The city doesn't have the stomach for it, so I have to do it myself.

I'm a lifelong democrat. I believe in sensible gun control. I'm not a "gun nut." What we have here are not Democratic policies. Democrats don't believe in lawlessness. Parents don't believe in lawlessness.

I pray I never have to use it. I can't imagine having to take a life.

Pretty sure the robber is also going to want your gun, once he finds it. Good luck with that.

Most of the senseless violent crimes we are seeing are definitely not a symptom of poverty. You can’t blame everything on poverty when many other parts of the country or world are just as poor if not more so than our major cities and yet they have vastly lower rates of violent crime. There’s something else at play. Beating people up randomly, pushing people onto subway tracks, stabbing and and raping complete strangers in Baltimore, this is not a poverty issue.

I didn’t start the thread. I’m just saying only a certain breed of person would call OP a gun nut.
