I am 41 year old man, and can't sing a song she sings. she not that famous.

She is probably the most famous celebrity (and maybe person) on the planet over the last year.

I think what he was trying to saying is he hasn’t listened to any new music in the last 15 years, and doesn’t follow any concert news.

Or maybe he's a fan of indie music, or jazz, or classical. I'm a 56 yo male with a voracious appetite for new music, primarily indie rock/jazz/soul, and I wouldn't know a TS song if I didn't have a teenage daughter.

do you know anything about American football? ever watch the Grammys? ever have an appetite to venture beyond your comfort zone, musically?
In the end, the fact is you do know TS, so what's your point?

I don't watch football or the Grammy's. How do you feel about the nrw albums by Noname, Caroline Polachek, or Ezra Collective?

do you ever read any news or headlines? It doesn't matter how I feel about your favorites.

Whatever, you do know TS, so what are you trying to say? Lots of us would agree that she's not the very best ever singer, musician or beauty, but, no matter, we've all heard of TS. And so have you.

I never said I wouldn't have heard of her. I said I wouldn't be able to name a Taylor Swift song, much less sing one, if I didn't have a teenage daughter. As it is, I can only name a few of them. She's very popular, but I don't pick what I like based on popularity.

And for the record, I'm left leaning and have never voted for a Republican in any election.

So give me one of her songs you like that I can start with.

That’s a toughie if you don’t like pop. Evermore and Folklore are closer to that direction (but personally I prefer Midnights. My favorite is 1989 just because I love uptempo pop).

And if you like the opposite of the kind of thing MAGA like, “You Need to Calm Down” (the video is part of what upsets maga). One of the new vault tracks on 1989 (Taylor’s Version) is Sl*t - probably going to be a deeply feminist song. Her super fans know it (from concerts? I’m not a super fan).

PP you replied to. My goodness me. I hear the message, it's great. Can't say the same about the style of music, sorry everyone. But she's a great artist, of course.

then you surely agree that MAGA should not be coming after her for basically no reason at all, calling her dumb and homely and talentless?
yet, you come here in what seems like a defense of those anti TS
again, what is your point? all this because you can't sing one of her songs? ok . . . .

Not everyone likes every kind of music! Like I said, if you’re usually strictly classical, she’s not going to be your gal. A true Swifty can probably mention a song to get you though.

Have a little hardanger fiddle Grieg as a palate cleanser: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvWKh5zjdqQ

Let’s just ignore the I’m the main character guy.

Taylor Swift has gotten 35,000 voters registered. That’s awesome.

I find it super sad that inviting young people to register to vote (not telling them how to vote) may be considered controversial in a democracy. Go Taylor (and i could not name one of her song if you put a gun to my head)
Anonymous
If you are not her audience she is not talking to you. Don’t hate her for being successful. Not everything is about you. If she bothers you, don’t let her tell you to register and vote. Refusing to vote will teach her to stay off your social media.

Young women who happen to be smart are a threat to losers like Orange Man, Cruz well known for standing up for his family, and Hawley last seen running from the crowd he stirred up.

Not sure if you’re aware how you’re dripping condescension and misogyny (on your teenage daughter, no less) but jesus open a newspaper. She’s at the level of fame that’s beyond her music. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/taylor-swift-eras-tour-boosted-economy-tourism-federal-reserve-how-much-money-made/

Xheck yourself. Or maybe I just don't think she's that good. Most of the best music these days is bring made by women. Taylor Swift is not one of them, imo.

you don't have to like her music to know she is the most influential celebrity/person for people under 35. And those under 35 are the ones who will dictate elections.

This is why MAGAs don't like her. She's influential with the younger crowd, and they mostly vote D.

I suppose MAGA would like her more if she were to grab her date's crotch at a family friendly show.

I was defending the guy who was unfamiliar with her and was told her must not have listened to any new music in 15 years.

In reality, it's quite likely that many Taylor Swift fans don't really follow new music, they follow new Taylor Swift music. Or only follow the few pop artists of her magnitude.

I also don't think she's that attractive, but looks have nothing to do with ability to make great music (though she's miles more attractive than the guy who made the comment). Look at Lucinda Williams or Jeff Tweedy.

It’s the most “41 year old man” thing in the world to think you are the measuring stick for everything.

OMG. Perfection.

41 year old man - Taylor Swift doesn’t need you to know her. She can just take her billion dollars and live out her life being an extremely beloved artist and one of the most successful musicians in human history. She’s doing A-OK w/out you as fan.

What did Maga say to Swift? Swift did nothing wrong. This seems to be a very divisive post.

How insecure is someone that uses the title "alpha male"?
