How often do you google people you used to know?

I google people I meet too.

I found out one dad on our kids soccer team was arrested for child sex abuse recently.

I found out an old friend died.

I found out another old friend had a child die of cancer.

I have a friend who is a famous actor but I saw him in a small part then would stalk him until he hit it big and now he’s just on Wikipedia . Boring so easy.

I had a friend at a party say I could never find out her “real story” … a week later I found she changed her name, she was one of 4 sibling, the other 3 were adopted from another county and the country, where she graduated from HS and what political contributions she made. She was blown away, lol.

Ah yes. Wikipedia. The good old days that people remember me as the “Willy on wheels!” vandal 20 years ago. I hope Jimbo still remembers me for vandalizing multiple pages at the time. I just moved to DC about a decade ago.

I’m afraid to look up people on FB/IG too much for fear that I will show up as a “people you may know” for them. However I did search for an old high school teacher to find his old incredibly cringe writings that he hosted on a free blog site, and found out that he now teaches at a HS in the area after bouncing around a lot of other districts in the mean time. Which I suppose is good to know because at least now I know he lives 20 minutes away!

Forget Facebook check the criminal records. I found out someone I met and was become f friendly with had like 12 DUIs. I stopped talking to them after that.

Never. And I've got plenty of time on my hands. It's just not interesting to me. I don't google myself either.

I was searching genealogy stuff and found out my uncle was arrested as a high school teacher for molesting students. My mom (his sister) has never said anything to me about it and she doesn’t know I know.

Whenever I meet an attractive man, I usually search him up.

For work whenever I have to meet up with someone, either a journalist or activist or leader, I google them to see what their opinions and perspectives will be ahead of time.

Hint to everyone else out there: you can get your info removed from white pages and other sites that track your address, contact info and relatives.

I looked up an old neighbor because I wanted to remember my childhood address, and discovered one of the daughters my age had brain cancer.

It was horrifying, and I wanted to reach out or contribute to go fund me (we all grew up pretty modest in a rural state), but I had not talked to them in 40 years and my parents are dead so it just seemed to invasive.

I wasn’t even looking for them, just trying to find an address, but as we are at age where death stalks us all it might be better to imagine all those folks still alive.

Do you not recall posting in this same thread in 2023?

I donated some money anonymously, and wished I could have reached out but it would have been super weird as they were friends with my parents not me, and my parents are dead (I had thought of them because I was wondering about something about my parents related to them).
