I just don’t get this. I hope your kid ended up somewhere amazing! |
The valedictorian got into UVA, so I don't think they do yield protection or they'd reject that one who is almost certainly going HPY. Maybe something just wasn't great about the application in question. |
and yet my valedictorian did get into UVA and did ATTEND and turned out to be one of their most honored students. go figure. |
| UVA is very prestigious |
| I know tons of kids last admission cycle that got in with Bs and 4.2-4.3 GPAs. All really well rounded kids, lots of APs, but nothing near what I hear parents on this site believe is necessary. |
So they did RD from TJ? Why not EA? RD is a much harder admit. Anyway rumor is UVA takes top 6% of GPAs from TJ. Probably need a higher percentage in for RD. I know kids who got into Georgetown Foreign Service and not UVA. |
Right but when you need a 4.53 GPA just to meet the 75th percentile of last year's incoming students, a B or more can really ruin that |
| Not necessarily. But I’d start picturing how a different school’s car decal will look. |
aw, what a proud mommy.
|
So some of us agree that pp's kid who didn't get in wasn't "yield protected." |
|
UVA has abandoned Virginia. They should stop getting state funding. Half of their students are OOS.
https://news.virginia.edu/content/historic-application-year-uva-offers-entry-nearly-6000-early-action-cycle |
Why is that missing half the students? Only 4000 incoming first-years. |
|
What does a 4.53 look like?
With all As, that's something like 10 AP/IB/DE and 10 Honors classes. Are electives honors? |
No. Only 1/3 are OOS. |
It’s correct. That is the number of first years at UVA. |
