I appreciate all info although indeed was particularly interested in where the OES kids go for middle school. re: Crossfield, don't the kids who go to Carson then go on to Chantilly? I know there are nice areas of Oakton but they aren't as familiar to me as other areas, so I don't know if OES or Crossfield or others are a good bet. I've heard people say Oakton lacks community but have heard others say that's not true, depends on where you live. Happy to hear more about these two particular elementary zones.

NP but I think there is a teeny tiny portion of Crossfield within Franklin Farm that goes to Franklin - Chantilly and one neighborhood that is technically in Reston goes to Hughes-South Lakes but the vast majority of the population goes to Carson - Oakton. Some of the houses zoned to Crossfield have Oakton addresses but most do not.

I think all of the Crossfield kids from Franklin Farm go to Carson and then Oakton. Some of Franklin Farm goes to Navy (I think) and then to Franklin and Oakton. The part of Franklin Farm across the parkway goes to Oak Hll, Franklin, and Chantilly.

Nope, there's literally one half of one street where kids go to Crossfield - Franklin - Chantilly. It's like a handful of houses and it's really stupid.

Wow, that's pretty ridiculous.

Which street is that? I'm not seeing it.

I'm pretty sure --and it is confusing--that the street you are talking about is Lees Corner; Franklin; Chantilly.
I THINK that those houses are part of Franklin Glen--not Franklin Farm, but I certainly could be wrong. I cannot think of any other reason that they would divide it that way.

No, but it's immediately adjacent to that area though. Look at the boundary maps for ES and MS and you'll see it's literally one street that goes to Crossfield and Franklin. I don't actually know what HOA it belongs to, I just assumed Franklin Farm, but you're right it could be Franklin Glen. Either way, if you go on Redfin and look at houses on those streets, and enter them into the boundary locator, you'll see what I mean.

Some of those houses are Franklin Glen. I still am not seeing the Crossfield/Franklin split that you are talking about. Those maps are really hard to decipher. I am guessing that the Franklin glen houses were assigned to Lees Corner before the FFXCounty Pkwy was completed and have stayed there. There is one street that was added since then and it goes to Lees Corner, too.
The FCPS boundary maps could be clearer.

Are you sure you are not talking about the ones that go to Navy? There is a section close to the Parkway and Franklin Farm Rd that goes to Navy. Navy goes to Franklin/Oakton. Still not seeing the Crossfield/Franklin/Chantilly split you mentioned.

Just saw that you posted Ashvale. I'd love to know the story behind this split. Really odd. No question there is a story behind it.

I think the part of Ashvale assigned to Crossfield was built much later than the part that goes to Lees Corner. Do not understand why it goes to Franklin/Chantilly, though.

Maybe this was one of those "builder's agreements."
