Fwiw, I'm a Dem and live in DC in a neighborhood plagued by drag racing, ATVs and loud engines. We need to see a radical about face on traffic enforcement. What if law abiding folks boycotted paying the excessive parking tickets until we see some equity in enforcement of dangerous driving that truly punishes all of us who live here?

Have you forgotten Baltimore city criminally charging 6 of its own officers, and then losing the case badly?

DC police have not forgotten. The message is clear: if an officer does their job and arrests a BIPOC person for a crime, the city will criminally charge the officer.

Besides, DC no longer prosecutes any criminals charged with crimes. So why bother risking your job for nothing by arresting people? The current situation is not difficult to comprehend.

Remember: the council created this situation. And you voted for this council.

I live in MoCo and I wish we had cameras. I've been nearly hit (as a pedestrian or runner) multiple times by cars when I'm in the crosswalk. It's like drivers can look for other cars at intersections and nothing else.

Uh … no. My Councilmember ran unopposed and I wrote someone in. The last mayoral candidate I voted for was Catania. There are ZERO options for DC voters.

I got pulled over for a headlight being out on the same day I called to report gunshots at an elementary school. Cops never showed to the scene of the gunshots.

Also I suspect many of the cars with illegal temp tags will just flee creating a public safety hazard. Kind of a catch 22.

Many of the cars with illegal temp tags already speed and drive recklessly endangering others regardless of whether they are being chased, so might as well catch them.
