Blame Canada! šŸ šŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦

ā€œ Blame Canada!
Shame on Canada

For... the smut we must stop
The trash we must smash
The laughter and fun
Must all be undone
We must blame them and cause a fuss
Before somebody thinks of blaming us!ā€

What about a wall? I think a wall would work.

Honestly it’s really annoying. They need to get their stuff together

An extremely tall wall! Make Canada pay for it!

If the smoke we keep getting was coming from Mexico or if an Asian or African country was our neighbor and the smoke was coming from there, folks here would be in an uproar about them being irresponsible and lacking accountability, but since it's Canada we'll just stare at our hands.

Why must they worry, the air is being pushed down towards us anyway.

Op - to be clear - I’m not mad at Canada. I just genuinely don’t know what we (the us) are doing to sort this out. Clearly we need to do more

So as to what I'm doing about the climate change situation, I'm driving and flying less (summer vacation this year by train), eating less meat, entering the DC composting pickup trial, unsubscribing to Amazon prime and cutting down on shopping in general, and not having another child. I'm also directing my donations to groups working on these things and not voting for anyone who denies climate change.

Yes, I'm still imperfect and annoyingly self righteous about this, but what's it going to take to get people to care? Our sky is literally gray.

What are you doing about Canada?

Don't get the vibe this one was on the table

Not a troll. Just sick of this.
Can’t they put some industrial fans out there and blow the smoke somewhere else? Why do we always have to deal with it? They need to innovate or something instead of sitting around eating donuts and saying eh to each other.

You need to read more.

Move where?

Yeah, that’s what he said. I said somewhere that didn’t have smoke and we could have clear skies. Which is why he basically said it was a stupid idea and we weren’t moving.

Canadian here. I love how Canada is now on the radar for the recent bad air quality due to forest fires when the USA has been polluting Canadian air and water on the Great Lakes corridor for decades, not to mention the Red River.

I don’t mean to be rude, as it’s not in our nature to because impolite, but what a stupid post. I regret reading it and wasting my time responding.

This is illogical. Just like:

Because there's pollution in American cities, we should not try to stop California forest fires.

Doesn't make sense.

and I think the point of OP was: What is the U.S. doing to help?

Do you even know how big Canada in comparison to the US (ie. most forest fires are in the boreal where most Canadians do not love) not to mention our population?
