| We live in ny and this is the third time we’ve been engulfed in smoky air. Unclear if anyone is doing anything but it’s - not great |
| And get on CA, too, while you’re at it. |
| What do you mean it's unclear if anyone is doing anything about it. Do you really think they're not? Come on OP. Wildfires are hard to contain and manage, but go ahead and pass your message on to all those firefighters on the front lines to let them know how you feel about their lazy ways |
|
Canadian here - What exactly do you suggest people do about Canada? Start a war? Protest? Write a strongly worded letter to Mother Nature? And will you also cc this letter to California?
I don’t mean to be rude, as it’s not in our nature to because impolite, but what a stupid post. I regret reading it and wasting my time responding. |
| We tried to do something about Canada in 1812. It was harder than we expected. Haven’t tried since. |

Not much they can do now. But, their forestry management and fire services are inadequate (not my opinion, it’s a fact, lots of articles about it).
Once the fires abate, they need to take steps to try to keep things from getting this bad again. But, politics, so I’m sure they won’t. |
| I mean, a young woman literally died fighting a wildfire in British Columbia this week. Your question is incredibly insensitive and ignorant. |
| South Africa sent 300 brave firefighters to Canada, to help the wildfires. Maybe you should join the American fire fighters to help? |
First of all—sure, lol Second of all, I didn’t realize Canada had such a homogeneous population that all of the people shared the same “nature.’ |
|
Since op seems pretty ignorant, here’s some info to help them understand the situation.

When are you going to start training to fight the fires? If not, stop yelling into the wind. |
|
There are many reasons for the fires including a history of poor forest fire management (not unique to Canada, awful here in US too) but it is clear that climate change is making fires worse on top of that.
So as to what I'm doing about the climate change situation, I'm driving and flying less (summer vacation this year by train), eating less meat, entering the DC composting pickup trial, unsubscribing to Amazon prime and cutting down on shopping in general, and not having another child. I'm also directing my donations to groups working on these things and not voting for anyone who denies climate change. Yes, I'm still imperfect and annoyingly self righteous about this, but what's it going to take to get people to care? Our sky is literally gray. What are you doing about Canada? |
Oh it’s wonderful you’re thinking about doing something about Canada! When is the fundraiser that you’re planning? Also please send me a link to the gofundme! Would love to attend these events that you’re planning since you’re wondering when someone is going to do something about Canada. That’s super thoughtful and I look forward to hearing all your plans and solutions! |
| We should invade and make 51st state. Who is with me? |
Hear hear!! What I’m doing about Canada is sending my elderly mother n95 masks and two air purifiers, since she is home bound and can’t escape to an area with better air quality. I am also setting up regular grocery delivery and a dog walker, because the air is affecting her breathing, with COPD. What are you doing about Canada? |
