That said,It was about $18K in '22 and last time I looked at ARL in general, it was about $18K so educating the brilliant outside of APS doesn't really cost us anything more. Unless the free bus rides are true. We can't "bus ride" those who stay in the county....

18K total? Or per student?

I’m not the reason dump won, this idiot is.

You say it’s fine to throw huge sums of money at sped and kids who are here illegally, but spending money on the gifted kids isn’t allowed.

You know who is busy developing the minds of their best and brightest? Our foreign adversaries.

But, well done, you. *slow clap*

PP did not say that.

You are the reason Trump won - making up fake narratives to drive division.

Go back and read. “Smart kids will be juuust fiiiiiine without TJ.”

Again, PP did not say "spending money on gifted kids isn't allowed".

Strawman.

What does “smart kids will be just fine without TJ” mean?

Like, of course they’ll be fine. But why are some people so hostile toward bright kids meeting their full potential?

We all see right through your questions, so take a seat.

Meeting their full potential And that only be done through TJ? It’s like impossible to do that at Yorktown? Those poor sad bright children repressed by the all the dumb dumbs surround this at APS in the IB program and the overachieving AP kids. God, the tragedy of it all!

TJ offers classes that aren’t available in APS. And IB is more humanities focused. You seriously don’t have a clue.

I can explain it TO you, but I can’t understand it FOR you.

Correct, you can't take as many science and math courses if you are in the IB program

Because TJ offers classes that aren’r offered in APS? That’s your justification. You realize that argument can be applied to ANY subject matter. My theater kids can’t take Advaned Theater 9000 but they could if we as taxpayers let them take classes at GW. My little Johnny loves Poetry more than anything if he could only take that really necessary class in Lyrical Haiku offered at Georgetown. And little Bessy down the street is a total sports whiz! Did you know Sidwell has an amazing Sports Management class!

APS offers college level mathematics and science. And I know for a fact that the Arlington kids going to MIT are coming from APS — and not TJ. So, get off your high horse. These kids will not suffer some tragedy. They will be just fine! Like all the other children. It’s a public system designed to meet the needs of most kids.

No. It's snowing. She needs a drink and a calm down.

This is a ridiculous comparison.

Arlington has been allotted (agreed to pay for) 30 seats so they will get 30 seats for the incoming class.

30 seats and not divided evenly between schools.

Do they divide by school population (like the HB Lottery) or take the top 30?

I heard it was 35 seats now and it was divided by school population.

.

Each school gets seats equal to 1.5% of its 8th grade headcount. 400 8th graders gives that middle school 6 seats.
